For the past 5 days Milo and Otis have had a decrease in their appetite. They are 8 months old, aprox. 12 pounds. The change in the house is that my husband who normally feeds them has left for Florida with one of our dogs and my daughter's dog who they did not care for. They are probably eating about 1/4 cup of Innova dry food daily. My husband use to fill their bowls twice a day sometimes. They are acting totally normal. They are quite happy that they have the run of the entire 3 floors again now that Marley is gone. Their bathroom habits are unchanged. They act and look very healthy. Should I be concerned, or is it normal for appetite to change around 8 months? Wondering if I should try another brand of food? They have never really cared for wet food. I am leaving in 9 days for Florida for a week so not sure how many changes to make with food. A friend who has watched them before will be staying at the house when I am gone.

Hi all

Sorry, i havent posted much since my return from the US - it's been really crazy here at the moment.

I had a great time meeting Meg and Rhonda - thank you both for the wonderful time. It's always nice to meet up with people when youre travelling alone.

It's also great to talk to people about Alroy without them thinking I'm a crazy cat lady....

When I arrived home last week I had to wrestle him back from my Mum and Dad - he had a great time there and came back a little more well padded than when I left. He also had a a wonderful time playing with their cat Tigger (who is 13 and thinks Alroy is really annoying...). It's so nice to be able to travel and know he's happy and well looked after

Well It's Alroys second birthday today - i cant believe my baby boy is 2 already!

Anyway - Alroy had a pretty quiet day today - sleeping in this morning with me, lazing on the bed while I ate breakfast (he shared a little bit of my Vegemite off my toast) then cruising around the house and in his cat run (I really need to post pics up here of the finished run - I'm pretty impressed with how it's gone).

My parents popped in this afternoon with a surprise birthday present for him. Dad had made him another cat tree/scratching pole in ragdoll size and sturdiness. They rubbed Tigger on the pole to transfer his scent to make the pole more attractive (poor Tiiger - I have a mental image of this happening...). It worked and I have barely been able to pry Alroy from the pole. almost immediately he started scratching at the carpet on the polr and doing all the right things. Thanks Dad! I feel bad as I haven't got him anything (although I'm planning on ordering a da bird from the US as I can't find them here in australia)

Have attached a couple of pics of the pole and Alroy - sorry for the poor phone pics.

Hello all,

I am very pleased to met you all. I am Carlos and me and my wife Luci are the proud owners of our first pet/cat/Ragdoll, Maximus (Max). He is a Blue white mitted with a lot of attitude!

As an introduction Max has a story which is kind of compatible with us. We enjoy travel and we currently live in WA state and we have been looking for a kitten for a while now. My wife used to have cats years ago and I never had pets myself (chickens, cows and farm dogs from my Grandma's farm don't count I think ).

As we were looking one of my wife's friends introduced us to her 2 Rags and they are so lovable that we felt that would be an excellent choice for us!

We found the breeder where those Rags came from and after several conversations with the breeder (based on all the books/web sites - including this one / and read and watch videos everywhere) we decided that she was 'the one'.

Max was already there, and in all his pictures he looked very playful and full of energy (I know that when your cat can't stand still for a pic ).

There was only one 'issue'... she was in Idaho and we are in WA. Well, since Teleport is still not available and from the movies still doesn't look very safe , I decided to go through more 'conventional methods and first I decided to drive there, and get him but I realized that was a loonnnnng drive and Max would probably escape at some point and runnaway due to 'over exposion' with the new owners ... then I decided to contact a company to bring him... The idea sounded nice and all... but again, the people who were supposed to bring Max had issues with their vehicle and they couldn't bring him.

I was sad... poor MaxDoll (this is also how we call him)... poor us, all these toys and stuff we bought, all the books and things I did to make the house 'kitten proof'. My wife laughed of all my plans and changes... well she used to have cats... I never had a pet... so I was a little bit 'over careful', I admit... but I like to see everybody feeling comfortable in my house... Kittens included.

Solution came when contacting a shipping company from Oregon a very very nice lady suggested me to contact an Airliner to see if they could ship Max.

Well, Well, I have to give credit to Alaska Airlines here (no propaganda)... they were sooooooooo ultra nice with me, laughing at all my 200 safety related questions (seriously I had 2 pages of questions about how Max would feel 'flying' here) .

At the end, MaxDoll would have to stand only a 35 minutes flight and get Milleage for his trip.

All set, the day arrived, he took his shots for interstate travel, and off we went to pick up our Rag at the Airport... once we got there the people from the Dept of Healt didn't want to release him for 'over cuteness'... and there he was... brave... pawns trying to get out of his little cage... 12 weeks old... eyes sparkling blue.

Well... I drove the 17 miles from the Airport to my house veeeery slow taking my time... all worried while my wife was in the backseat watching him in his cage. We were afraid he could get sick or something... and he was there, cool... sniffing my wife hands, looking around... all happy.

Once at home, 'safe room' ready, I did all what I read in the books, I just opened the little cage expecting him to be shy and all that... 2 minutes later he was grabing my hand, licking, happy as a sunny day...

Still we left him isolated for sometime and in order to be able to see him, I created some wood barriers that allowed us to see him without let him leave the room (I drove people from Home Depot crazy with all my measurements and barriers with no scratchable surfaces hahaha).

I showed him the litter box... he was all cool looking at me like, "tell me something I don't know!".

Well... it didn't take longer than few hours for Max pratically beg to have the barrier removed but we resisted even though he looked like 'trust me, I am all cool here'.

Turned out, many things from the books simply don't apply to Max... like even though our house is multifloor, he only likes one litter box in one place and if he has to go... he stops his play time and runs like crazy... making funny sounds like 'greeeeewww' (like I am mad because I 'have to go' but I want to play ).

He has his good share of Diva moments but he is very very fun, energetic (those feathers and papper balls really work). He doesn't care about 'expensive toys' (we returned so much stuff already ) and he is really into his Royal Cannin Food hard food (we changed from the Baby to the Kitten food sometime ago and he was again all cool about it - he loves it) and he meows every evening for any 'fish' taste wet food (he loves it, but once a day).

We are very happy to have him at home and he is great fun from start to finish of everyday.

He doesn't sleep with us and he is fine with his room with some good space, and all the cat toys scratch polls etc. He is ultra quiet in the evening after all lights are out (we leave a little light for him) but when we wake up and he hear us talking he meow, like... "hey, I am here too!!"

Vet says he is very healthy and had absolutely zero issues with his tests and he is very curious and looooves to explore. He is also a pur machine and when we get home he hear the car and you hear the meows and finally when he sees us, he starts... puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrr.

Like every kitten I had my dose of scratches and bites and we are trying to show him this is not good... but one thing he does and it always crack me up is when I am at the computer and he comes running, holds my leg (no claws) and jump back and run like saying:

"Hey... get out, let's play". I laugh everytime and I just can't resist that.

He just learnt that the table is not a place to be, so when we are eating he goes to one of the chairs next to me and he puts his pawn on my leg or my wife's leg like saying "I am here... you can eat and all, but I am here".

Now my challenge is to try to take him outside... my initial tests with the leach went terrible. he was walking around the house with the leach in his mouth instead of his neck... got some pics of it, but I recently read and article about it and I will keep trying.

He definitely loooves humans and he loves to sleep in our laps unless he is not happy with something. He thinks I am his mom and my wife is the dad and when I am watching tv next to my wife he goes in the middle all looking funny... it is hilarious.

Well, he is now almost 6 months old and we will fix him soon (poor thing), and we are also thinking about getting a second kitten from the same breader as Max is sooo full of energy and health and he is so funny, but we think it would be nicer to get him a sister.

We will see...

I would like to thank you all to keep a place like this which helps us so much with all the questions we have about this very intelligent and lovable cat.

Sorry about the long post, but I thought I had to say all this much after we learnt so much from here.

We will post some Max Pics very soon and keep you all posted of his adventures...

Thanks and I wish you all a Purrrrrrrtastic great weekend.

So we all know that I'm preparing for the boys birthday party. I'm having 3 friends over for dinner.....I wanted to have little gifts at the table for my guests. My best friend is always taking notes....ALWAYS....we laugh about it constantly. Anyway, I Googled each letter of her name (thank God it was short) and found some really unique letters....I copied them over to Photoshop - then I put them all together and printed it. I cut and pasted it onto this small note pad. The note pad is about 4 3/4" x 3".....

I think it tunred out so cute - I had to share it with you.....
5 year old female purebred Red/Flame Point Ragdoll cat. Needs a loving home without children. We have had Hailie for 5 years and it saddens us to have to find her a new home, but we have a 9 month old son and another baby on the way and Hailie does not like children. Hailie needs a special home with understanding owners. It takes a while for her to warm up to people. She is wonderful with my husband and I and loves to cuddle and craves attention, however she is leary of strangers. We hope to find a good home for her because we do not want to take her to the pound If you feel you can provide Hailie with a warm, loving home and have patience for her to warm up to you please give us a call. 916-524-4290.

Ongoing Diarrhea with Kronos

I have now come to the conclusion that I think Kronos has Tritrichamonus Foetus (Tritrich). This is only treated with a medicine called Ronidazole which is not FDA approved for the use in cats yet... but there has been a lot of success in treating cats that have tritrich.

The reason why I think Kronos has this is because my sister's kitten, Keljin, has a littermate who was tested positive. Keljin has the same symptoms as Kronos, so I am thinking that the entire litter must have had it and then Keljin passed it on to Kronos when I was dumb and let them play together a long time ago... which is when Kronos' symptoms began.

We are on yet another round of Flagyl (metronidazole) and like usual Kronos is doing great on that. I am going to have him tested for tritrich but even if the test comes up negative, I think I want to still push for having him treated.

My only concern is that Ronidazole is a dangerous medication, from what I have read. It can cause seizures as side effects in your cat, and is toxic to people. When administering the medication you have to wear gloves.

Otherwise the diarrhea usually resolves on its own after the gut settles and calms, usually around 12 months of age, and your cat returns to normal. However your cat will still carry tritrich (it is a parasite I think).

I still would rather have my cat treated (I will probably treat Solo too) because otherwise they could be carriers of tritrich for their entire lives and pass this on to other cats. What if I still want a little new chocolate Ragdoll kitten in the future? I would NEVER want to have to go through this all again.

What are your thoughts? What would you do?

Hello my dear friends,

I've been so busy the past few days with school and I am finally writing a good update!

Sutang's condition has been improving a lot! We took her back to the vet for a brief recheck on Tuesday, and the vet said 98% of the infection is gone, and her body is healing well. She removed her suture too. Right now we continue to give her antibiotics as directed and she's back to herself (very active) - although she and Subing are still separated and probably we will keep it that way for another week just to make sure that he doesn't mess around with her wound.
Boyfriend is leaving town tomorrow morning But he's been such a great support during this difficult time.
I want to thank you all again! It feels great to know that I have you guys here.

Love,
Keala, Subing and Sutang

Solo/Kronos staring contest, Kronos puffs up his lips to look bigger I think! Solo is definitely the dominant cat.
