RE: cats using human toilet
oh my goodness! My mother has been harassing me to try that. I was going to start looking for something on line today. I didn't know it was called the litter kwitter!!! How hilarious! I just had back surgery and it's hard to bend over and clean the box when noone else is around. I am intertested to hear how it works too!
Sorry I couldn't really help, but I wish you the best of luck, it sounds pretty cool!

I got mine of ebay for $55. they are about $89 retail so thats pretty good. My guys are adapting well at the moment. will post some pics later, it looks pretty funny. I have to try not to laugh at them - dont want to put them off. Merlin regarded the whole thing warily but he uses it. Brie would breeze through but have to go at the pace of the slower cat so Merlin will hold her back.

That's a riot! I know, you must have to turn around and laugh. I am laughing right now just thinking about it!!!!
Tell me, do you use put it on the same toilet you use or is it a second toilet? I only have one and not sure what to do!
I cant wait to see the pics!
Thats a really good deal, I wouldn't have thought of using ebay for that, Thanks!

RE: cats using human toilet
I have 2 adoptive families who have successfully toilet trained their kitten with the citikitty. I have pictures to prove it....Big Grin Don't worry I won't share the details.Wink
The families have, nicely, shared with me the steps they went through, it has been wonderful being able to share in the milestones with them, with the kitten was finally balancing and using the toilet with no mistakes. From what I have heard and read, patience is key, and not moving too fast.
I haven't heard of the product you all are speaking of, maybe you could share the link to the product that you have had good luck with.

http://www.citikitty.com is the product, the 2 families I know have used with good results.

I would think this would be easier to accomplish in a smaller cat household of 1-2 cats.

Please keep us updated on how each continue to move forward. I am excited for you!!Smile

Merlin is especially funny to watch as he makes such a big fuss over wiggling his bottom about over it before he goes then looks at me as if to say "what?":D
We use the main toilet because it has easiest access for the cats. We have a second toilet but you can also easily lift it off and put it on the floor to use the toilet.
Changed to the intermediate seat this morning (has a small hole in the middle)Too soon for Merlin. Silly me left an empty litter tray on the floor in the laundry and someone left the door open so he went in thatSad He has used the toilet reluctantly since I removed the tray but is still wary so if he is still not happy tomorrow I will put the first seat back on. Good little Brie is fine just carried on as if nothing happened.
If you are planning on getting one the first step is to move the litter tray to the toilet so the cat gets used to going in there. I did this while I was waiting for the litter kwitter to arrive so we could start using it straight away. I really think it will be worth the effort if I dont have to clean litter trays any more.

It does sound like it is worth it, I have researced a bunch of them and started bidding on ebay as well. I called all of the pet stores around me and they all said they used to sell it but now they don't. I am going to try and order one. I have tried the LitterRobot (twice) and it got litter everywhere and the Littermaid (once) and it got litter everywhere. My poor kitty has switched litter boxes so many times!!! I don't think she'll have any problems switching one more time! While I wait to get one, I think I'll put her litter box in the bathroom.
Thanks for the update!

Merlin is still reluctantly using the intermediate stage. Just 1 no.2 on the toilet floor when I didnt clean the tray in a timely manner (Merlin is very fussy about clean litter)
I think I will leave them on the amber (intermediate stage) for a few weeks so Merlin can adjust. The next stage is green then then they start using the normal toilet. It has been a bit of a hassle but well worth it if I end up doing away with the litter trays!
There is a web site with hints and a forum I think its http://www.litterkwitter.com.au
Putting the tray in the bathroom will definately give her a head start when her litter kwitter arrives.
Good luck! Nicky.

oh yes, Nicky and won't it be fantastic when there is no more dirty litter tray so Merlin won't go on the floor! Lucia is very finicky too. I have moved her litter box to the bathroom, in fact, I put it right on top of the toilet so she will get used to going up there. I am going to be home from work for another week or so, so I figure, I can lead her to it whenever she needs to go. I am keeping my fingers crossed! I might just order one from the website so i don't have to play with ebay anymore.
Thanks for the info! Good luck with your Merlin!
Melissa

Hey Melissa,
I put Merlin on the tray from time to time just to be sure he knew where to go. Brie has always jumped up on the toilet seat and has taken to the litter kwitter without a hitch she could probably move onto the next level now but she has to wait for merlin to be ready. Maybe its a boy thing and lucia will be more like Brie. In using the tray while you are waiting just make sure it is really secure because if it slips and gives her a fright it might put her off for a while. Also it can help to put a little footstool next to the toilet to make it easier for her to get up there and of course most importantly................dont laugh. LOL. very offputting.
