It sounds like Molly is really changing and becoming more confident with all the love you're giving her. She really landed on her feet when she came to live with you!!

It's a display of trust and affection--high praise indeed! Consider it a milestone to be treasured in your relationship with Molly. For the record Lighty does this with me as well. Of course she has these nine inch incisors and it does smart a bit. She occasionally gets a little too enthusiastic and I have to remind her--gently--to go easy on the dental lovin'.

Good to hear about Molly's improved loo habits. If I could only get that kind of percentage out of Snowman! Rolleyes

My Merlin gives me "love bites", too. When he was a kitten, he would sometimes bite down too hard (especially when he was overstimulated)...so I would say "ouch" and remove my hand quickly. He eventually learned how to bite softer and usually does follow it up with a few licks! It's interesting reading about everyone else's experiences with this behavior.

Jack plays and I try not to use my hands but he jumps me, and you should see my hands with red teeth marks and cuts,,not sure how to break him

My raggies do this too - usually when they are purring, head-butting & kneading on me! I take it as affection.

About 2 weeks ago, Bubba started diving under the covers each morning and giving me little bites all over my arms and legs. It's a shocking way to wake up and it does hurt a little, but I'm excited because until lately he pretty much ignored me. I hope he learns to lighten up some when he gives his love bites. Big Grin

I know this thread is a little over a month old, but I was wondering how Molly is doing.

My Solomon has done this a few times. His are actual bites, though....does not break the skin, but sure does get my attention! It is normally when we are just standing, minding our own business and he will come over to our leg, rub against (purring SUPER loudly) and then will bite the back of our lower leg. When he has done this, he is as happy as can be and he is purring his loudest and also rubbing as much as he can. I don't know why they do this, but I would also say that it is just "love bites".

RE: love bites?
Hi, all!

Molly is doing better and better - the love bites are still coming, and every now and then she bites a bit harder but I think it is because she just doesn't know her own strength. I tell her 'ow' on those ones, and she lets go immediately. She is also doing the licking afterwards, too.

And the newest thing she is doing is when she comes up to lay on my arm in the early morning hours - until now she would not let me put my other arm over her to cuddle, she'd jump off the bed right away. But this last weekend, she actually let me put my arm around her and she stayed there for quite a while. I felt blessed.

It's been 9 months now, and there are still new discoveries with her. It's so hard not knowing what she went through in the 5 years before I got her, but over time and with lots of hugs and kisses and getting her healthy, she continues to blossom.
