What do you feed?
I was just curious as to what everyone here feeds their kitties? Roscoe is the ULTIMATE picky eater. It feels like I've tried every single brand of food with him. Luckily, he's finally hooked on eating Innova EVO dry food and...well, I know it's not the BEST, but Market Selects Meow Mix. I think he likes the gravy that's in the Market Selects. He starts meowing as soon as I go to the cabinet around dinner time Rolleyes

So, what do you guys feed your kitties?

We have no problem with picky eaters, but have had problem with Petsmart or Petco not staying stocked with one food. We were feeding Royal Canin, so we added in Purina One as well, this way if the store runs out of one, we can still continue feeding the other, without any digestive issues.
Cats can get hooked on one type of food, and hearing that is has gravy, I can see why he wants that, and it sounds like he is telling you about it. I don't feed canned foods, just because our cats drink enough water, and the dry kibble is just healthier for the teeth. Plaque build up, can happen feeding wet food, and plaque can lead to other problems such as heart conditions from bacterial infection.
Our cats eat the Whiskas Tempations in the shakable bag for treats, they even hear a slight krinkle, and they all come running.
Sometimes the picky eaters, are just really smart, and realize if I wait and not eat, my Meowmy will bring me the "good" stuff, since she knows I will eat it. They are smart little furballs. Gotta love them.
I really like Royal Canin, but the overall average is the cats love the Purina One.

Stormi

Wow, I wish my cats were as laid back about food choice as yours are Big Grin If I gave Roscoe JUST the dry food, I am certain he would turn his nose up (I've tried before). I might just start cutting back wet food rations though. He's like a little kid...he knows that I want him to eat the healthy stuff but he just wants the junk...Rolleyes

RE: What do you feed?
They did get the wet food, but after the food recalls of the packaged and canned cat foods, we didn't want to take any chances. We moistened the dry kibble for awhile with goats milk, which cats can tolerate well, it has a lot of the same nutrients as cats milk. Cats are lactose intolerant and do not do well with cow's milk. You can also use just warm water or chicken broth, will all do the same, let it set and soak up the liquid and see how the cats like it, if they begin eating it, you can just begin to slowly cut back on the broth, making the food slowly become more dry.
It may be worth a try.
You are right they are a lot like kids, and are just as smart. Once they get you wrapped around their paw, it is hard to look into those blue eyes and say no.
The recalls I believe have slowed down, but I haven't brought canned food back. I liked Nutro and Iams canned, the cats each had their own specific favorite, and for nursing queens we gave Hills A/D, which is the far favorite, but we had kittens at one point not want to wean over onto the dry, they wanted to wait for that evening feast of canned, so that is another reason we went to dry kibble only. It isn't any better, it is just what the cat and owner prefer.
Roscoe has made his choice clear, I guess, he says he likes his wet food.Smile You might have the dentist check his teeth at his check ups, and possibly have a teeth cleaning scheduled, if the vet feels it is needed, just to prevent any build up.

RE: What do you feed?

Sophia was given a low grade food by her breeder... my guess too many to feed.
At the time I was feeding my yorkies Merrick so I started her on it.  Then my female yorkie develop an allergic reaction to one of the ingredient. Now I feed them all Artemis Fresh Mix Formula is a holistic approach.  They all love it and they carry can food for cats.  I'm lucky my neighborhood pet store has it, if you can't find it you could order from PetFoodDirected.com

Quick suggestion if he is a kitty you could always get him use to cleaning his teeth.  My son and I are allergic to cats, but we love all kinds of animals.  I give Sophia bath every three weeks she loves it and my routine is to cut nails, clean teeth and ears.  We have been doing it since day one and my baby will be two Aug. 1st

RE: What do you feed?
We have fed our ragdolls variations of dry IAMS food from day one, and they love it, and it seems to keep them in good health. The hairball and weight control formulas are excellent IMO - and we rotate between regular, hairball and weight control to give them some variety.

They love it all! We usually feed our two raggies wet food a couple of times a week as a 'treat', but they are very picky on wet food. They seem to like eating dry food more than the wet, which makes things much easier.

The recall has been scary indeed, luckily they have always eaten and enjoyed a couple of the fancy feast offerings, which were not included in the recall.

RE: What do you feed?
Hello,

We are 8 month and we love science diet, the new one that just came up seafood for kitten.

With the wet food I tried everything, and I guess he is just spoiled, he will eat only fancy feast tuna and shrimp flaked, AND only the sous. All other canned food he will come over sniff and then just leave.

But I guess that what he likes.

RE: What do you feed?
Another big difference I note between the USA and Aus is the way we feed our animals.
Over here we use a mixture of both dry food and raw meat. We freeze our meat for 4-7 days before thawing and giving it to the cats, and the dry foods we use is a mixture of premium and decent supermarket varieties. Our main favourite is Eagle Pack, Whiskas Advance and supercoat.
We do sometimes mix in a little tinned food with the minced meat for a little variety.

Jasmine eats Purina One Kitten formula and today I started to mix it with Purina One Adult Senstive Systems. The Sens. Systems contains yogurt which I'm hoping will help with her # 2's...they are on the soft side. P-U!

RE: What do you feed?
ShyI don't have a Ragdoll yet but my two cats eat Royal Canin, the younger one gets Fit and my 'old man' gets Active Mature. We get ( in South Africa) Iams and Purina One and Hills Science Diet here too, I have tried them all but my boys like Royal Canin. My one boy loves a pouch of Iams about twice a week, the other one is not interested in wet food at all.

Hopefully when I get my Ragdoll kitten the breeder would have fed it food that is available here. Smile
