RE: please help!!!
Hi there
Each cat has their own personality and I believe that which breeder you buy from is very important as the way they are socialised in the first 12 weeks affects their personality a lot. If your friends bought a couple of ragdolls from the same breeder with snobbish, ill-tempered and agressive personalities then I wouldnt get your new baby from the same breeder. RE: please help!!!
Hi Cloe,
No they are in different towns. it just frightened me a bit cos the little man i met yesterday didnt seem like that, he was playing with his brothers and pouncing on him. and very happy to be held until he had enough. he seems to have a brilliant personality. very similar to my moodle (maltese x poodle). we are going back thursday to have another look at him before we decide, what sort of characteristics generally means they have a good nature and personality? thank you dannilou ![]() Townsville: the capital of tropical north Queensland, Australia |

RE: please help!!!
I agree that all cats have their own personalities and that how they are socialized when kittens is very important. My little Shree (my seal bi-color) is very shy with strangers though she warms up after she gets to know you and is one of the sweetest cats that I've ever known. My Aidan (my flame point) is totally friendly--even with complete strangers! He makes me laugh!

RE: please help!!!
Check out the personalities of the parents if you can - how do they react to you. What are the conditions the kittens are kept in -- are they kept in the house and raised underfoot with alot of interaction with the breeder and his/her family? Other things to look at -- at what age to they rehome their kittens? (Should be kept until 12 weeks) - what kind of contract are you offered (should outline what is expected of you as an owner - that you won't let the raggie outside) is the kitten to be neutered before you get it, or afterwards? If afterwards, the breeder should hold the papers for the kitten until it is neutered/spayed. If before, then you should get papers with your raggie now.
Just make sure you are getting a kitten from a reputable breeder. Can you get references from him/her to contact about the behavior of kittens previously placed? Just some thoughts. While as Chloe said, all cats have their own individual personalities, for the most part ragdolls are very easy going -- some lap cats, some just like to be close to you - but on a whole, they are NOT aggressive! ![]() Alabama, United States of America |

RE: please help!!!
She seemed very reputable. my lil boy wont be ready til 8th of may because she wants to make sure he is properly trained. the cats are all inside, obviously, as will i keep him, i dont believe cats should be outside. they are weened off, so they go from the birthing suite, to a bigger area and then the lounge room. the mother was very placid and was the dad, dad actually got hissed at by another over protective mothers. there are about 3 queens. and one of the queens are very protective of every litter even if its not her own. he is mitted as well. i have pictures of mum, dad, and bub. but dont know how to put them up

RE: please help!!!
How old will the kitten be May 8th? From what you're describing, it sounds like they are raised with the family and socialized. I have heard of some that raise ragdoll kittens out in another building away from the house and without much socialization. The fact the mother is very placid is another good indicator.
