So what do you make of this?
Paul's posting made me wonder about our situation with Nicky and Cassie as well....
We brought Cassie home just over a month ago (she is now one-year-old). There hasn't been any hissing, growling, ears going back or any signs of aggression since we've given her free reign of the house. Where I am puzzled however, is that Cassie will approach Nicky (our eight-year-old) real sweetly. He then starts to lick her head, but after a couple of minutes of that, she will bite his neck! Obviously he does not like this and then a fight starts. It happens probably about every other day or so. Cassie does the same thing when she wants to boot Nicky out of his warm and cozy sleeping spot, whether it be on our bed, or his actual cat bed (she has one too - she would just rather have whichever one that he is in at the moment). I'm puzzled because it seems that they get along really well and then the scuffle will start. Any advise as to what's going on and how I might best put an end to this? RE: So what do you make of this?
just what I was told and Im sure some others on the board will have better information.
My vet did explain that sometimes they will struggle with "who is the boss" He basically told me that George needed Mimi to teach him a lesson. (Mimi was here first) George kept "challenging" her as he put it. He said usually the resident cat remains the boss. Now I will tell you....George is 8 1/2 months old and although he was not the resident cat....he is the boss, (as far as I can see) . However this does not mean they do not lay together, play together and love each other. Mimi is also the same sweet loving cat she always was. However I must admit...George walks around like he is the king. .lol

RE: So what do you make of this?
There is no need to put an end to it. You are more upset about it than they. This is just normal cat interaction. It is likely that Cassie is asserting herself. That is fine -- and trying to stop it can cause no end of problems. Leave it to them and enjoy the "sibling" action.

RE: So what do you make of this?
Sebastian is the same way with my boyfriend's domestic short hair female cat, Lilly. She will be laying in one of his favorite spots, then he will out of the blue walk up to her and start biting on her to get her to leave. They will also be playing with each other, and the next thing I hear is someone growling or meowing in what seems to be pain. They will be in a scuffle biting on each other. They will sit there staring at each other with their ears back and then lunge at each other. Sebastian is 7 years old, Lilly is a little over a year. I think Sebastian just tries to tell her that he was here first, he is the oldest and the prince of the house. He means no harm but maybe its a male thing.

So amazing,
I am in the process of a gradual intro this week and have noticed similar behavour by the older raggie (Nikita), Its not been anything aggressive, more like play biting, A quick pic of the interaction, sorry it is out of focus, Toby moves like lightnng so no time to focus ![]()

RE: So what do you make of this?
we are flying to new jersey on Tuesday with Puff apollo ( 5 months old) for 6 weeks and then flying back to Texas. Any suggestions? THe vet gave us a sedative for him, if needed. he cloves his carry case and just sits in it at home. He is use to his new harness. Is there any further prep I need? We will be at home with my daughter and her cat- Ramsey so I am not sure how to introduce puff and Ramsey . Ramsey is about 1 years old and not very social. What steps do I need to do? THanks for suggestions. Puff and Judy/Jerry

RE: So what do you make of this?
Just go through the same careful introduction process you would in introducing a new cat to a resident cat at home. With two so young, it should go quickly although it sounds like Ramsey may be a tough nut and that may slow things.
