Full Version: Anyone use vaccination clinics at Petco?

I'm on a roll this afternoon with several posts. I am interested to know if (in the US anyway) people take their ragdolls to Petco, Petsmart, etc. for vet care. The Petco near us has a weekly clinic for vaccinations, which includes an examination. Their prices are definitely less expensive than the vet clinic we go to. However, if we get vaccinations there but then need a vet for something urgent (like we just did), we would go to the local vet, but then I feel like we are "cheating on" them for not getting all of our care there. I've pretty much made up my mind NOT to do the Petco route, but it does enter my mind every once in awhile. Would like to know if anyone else does.
Cats should have annual wellness exams from the best vet reasonably available. The shots can be given at that time and the cost of the shot at that exam will very likely be less than going in just for the shot at Petco.
I don't think I would use them because if one of my girls (or my moggie boy) had a bad reaction to a vaccine, i would want the vet to know what vaccinations had been given, and what brand, and where, etc. I've heard too much recently of cats having reactions.
I know people who have used them in the past for routine shots to save to get the free vet exam on certain days and times. The complaint was the waiting time. I have also seen some pets with adverse reactions but that could happen anywhere I guess. Sometimes their hours are better than the vets as well.

It all boils down to who the actual vet is and whom do you trust the most. You also need to weigh cost and value for your money as well.
