I've been looking for a second cat for awhile. I've got a 1 year old female raggie, mischeif she is a bit of a handful and i know she would love a second cat to fuss over. the main thing is i got a long term health problems and i really couldnt take a second cat like her!
i veered off the idea of a second ragdoll just in case i got another monkey/cat and started looking at persians as they are generally quieter and gentler.
Now i have the chance to have
a female persian or
a ragdoll male
both are adults and gentle natured
but i am torn as which to go for..... they are also too far away for me to travel and meet them.

I think for me a persian might be best. But i think my girl would love a raggie friend Im in such a hard place because i been on the verge of having to give her up so many times because she's worn me out.
....I'm just so scared to get another crazy cat! Do ragdollls and persians get on? An wise words would be nice
Persians are reputed to be more quiet and less playful than Ragdolls, although our Himilayan was just as active as our Ragdolls. A kitten of either breed will sop up some of the energy of your Ragdoll - and burn off some of his own with her.

If you are being literal about not being able to tolerate another like cat, then I would get neither, even though it might help. Someone ever on the verge of rehoming a cat should never get another kitten. Perhaps consider an older cat who will be euthanized otherwise, since the risk to the cat from your possible need to rehome is balanced by the current risk to the cat. The other advantage in your situation is that the adult cat will not have kitten play levels, although introductions may need to be a bit more careful and may take longer.
well, I might be of a little help since I have a raggie and a persian. While my persian is more relaxed then my George...she does still enjoying playing sometimes... and the two of them together is a sight. Each night they play chase. They take turns chasing each other up and down the hallway. If they are grown remember each cat has their own personality. I would talk to the people you are getting them from about their personalities as much as you can. The one hard part with a persian is the grooming. they must be groomed several times a week. brushing, eyes (at least mine), etc. Mine also needs to be bathed occasionally. while she doesnt mind the bathing at all...it is a lot of work.
I think I am rambling now :0 Just wanted to give you a couple things to think about.. Smile
