I had to share I am SO proud of myself! I was terrified to clip my kitens claws that I might hurt them. I always had the vet do it. And then when they had diarrea I took them to a groomer for a sanitary cut and had the groomer do it.

But its been too long and one kitten accidentally hurt my son when she got scared and tried to jump out of his arms when my husband turned on the vaccum.

So I decided I had to be brave and just do it.

And guess what, it was not that scay! I learned that when I was hesitating before, they got nervous. but when I was in a well lit room so I could see the quick very easily and avoid it, just snipping off the white end it was super easy!

I am so proud of myself and now am not scared anymore!!
They probably aren't as stressed either since they are at home also...our first kitten, Lola, was so laid back I could have her on my lap and trim her nails....now Chloe and Leo is a two person job, not bad, just need good light like you said and two people.
We try to trim every two weeks to keep on top of it.
Good work! The hardest part of clipping is the first time, you'll be an expert before long Smile
Good job! i'm a big chicken when it comes to this! but not my daughter, she just plunks them on her lap and clips away...so i let her do it.Wink
I know how you feel. I was so proud of myself first time. I'd been hiring someone to come to the house to do it - but one time Samantha had an awful reaction to one of them (and I trust her instinct) so I didn't let them come back again and tried it myself. I use 4.0 power reading glasses (over my contacts) and lots of light, and lots of treats afterwards!
I really think our pets know when we are stressed and seem the same way too. I just quietly pick up Sassy, put her in a chair, facing away from me, pick up the paw, spread the foot and quickly clip (using a human toenail clipper).. Its over in about 1 minute of less and she's totally fine.. They surely know our vibrations!
Good job! - I'm certain they are a lot more relaxed at home than having to visit a vet or groomer to clip nails Smile
Congrates!!!
The more you do it the more relaxed they will become.
