yes you need to use the brackets if you do this manually ...
In the headline of the new reply window there is a direct button with that function - on the left side you have all the font formats and on the right it is the 3rd button (a miniature pic) all you have to do is press this before and after inserting the image code.

Thanks Monika - I was just using the quick reply message box. For next pix I'll try the "new reply" button. I can't wait to receive new pix of my kitties. I've been very lucky - the breeders are happy to send updates and new photos. So, I should probably have more early next week. I've been browsing through everyone's old posts and looking at their photos - this is a Ragdoll paradise!
