Good evening!

I just set up our computer work stations in our new home and have been busy placing as much of the wiring/cabling as possible into some cheap flex conduit I picked up at Lowe's (it comes pre-split down the side, making it very easy to put the wire inside). It's going to take me a few more hours to finish (...), but I am beginning to realize that there is no way I'll be able to get every inch of wire into the conduit - there's just too much of it running in many different directions.

I'm sure I'm not the first one to have gone through this. What solutions have ya'll devised, and indeed, for how many has wire chewing been an issue in the first place?

Cheers!

Oh jeez Rod, that's such a pain! Mine never touch the bigger cords that plug things into the wall but they were having a good go with all of the cords and wiring in my office. I managed to position things so that there is no longer access behind the desk and any cordage that couldn't be hidden was covered with flex. Good luck!
Wire chewing was a very minor problem that Solo eventually outgrew. I rubbed bitter apple (which is a taste deterrent for dogs, originally to stop them from chewing on themselves but works for putting on things you don't want your pet to chew) on my cords to give them a bad taste when we did have the problem, which really helped! It comes in a gel or a spray.
O my wiring was never a problem in my home .When mine were babies my husband did cut card board up and then duct taped it,,, look funny but it worked it was cheap and fast and covered all the wiring in there safe room.
Smile wiring in general has not been a issue here either - the mouse cable is a different story though LOL - it moves and therefore has to be attacked - The 'bitter apple' spray Alisha recommended is very useful Wink I've raised a bunch of puppies so far and the taste is awful - yuck!
Phoenix is not a cord chewer either. I've never covered any electrical cords or cable wires.
Never had to cover any of our wiring here either, thank goodness. Definitely better to be safe than sorry, but to be honest I never really thought about it. Fortunately neither of my two have ever chewed on any of our wiring!
I'm going to cover what I can to be safe. I think gathering it up into conduit will also make it less higgeldy-piggeldy behind our desks.

I like the cardboard idea as a temporary solution, and I will have some bitter apple on hand just in case. Our kittens/cat will have Karly's room as their introduction/safe room, and as soon as they are comfortable we'll open up her bathroom next, and then the rest of the house. The only wiring in her room is to her alarm clock; in the bathroom is the washer/dryer, but I will probably block those off completely anyway.

Only two weeks to get this all put together - ack!

Happy Sunday everyone!

We have always kept my girls away from wires, but them have never really been a problem with chewing unless they are moving wire, such as attached to controllers! Coco has recently started chewing flip flops and trainers, not happy!!!
We have this problem with Linus chewing the cords in Walter's office. I had forgotten about bitter apple, which does work. Thanks for the reminder.
