Hello everyone,

My fiance and I have had other breeds of cat over the years but we are completely new to the Ragdoll breed, we pick up Wills (an ex stud male) on monday afternoon and although we have done some research into the breed we have decided to join your little community to glean some helpful pointers and share our Ragdoll experiences with others Smile

The full details about Wills have not yet been sorted out but we believe he is about 6 years old and has been having the time of his life "servicing" the females at the breeders but is now coming to us to live out the rest of his days in the country.

He will have been neutered and is a pedigree, we think we may have the option of having a female as well but will wait until Monday to find out for sure.

We already have a Tabby cat (Jazzy) and think that she will be ok with the arrival of Wills if we give her lots of attention and love to help her adjust and not make her feel pushed out by Wills.

Think thats it for now, we look forward to any pointers or advice anyone can help us with Big Grin

Pete and Boo
Welcome.

There are a number of threads about the slow introduction of kittens to resident cats. The process is the same for any newcomer and there is a search feature at the top of the page where you can search for strings that will give you ideas. In general, you first need to decide the length of any medical quarantine and then you take steps to slowly introduce the cats, by scent first under the door and in exchange of bedding and then face to face meetings starting with holding one or both.

It takes some weeks for a male's hormones to dissipate, so you may want to take that into account if he is recently neutered. Introductions are easier among speutered cats.

I would also speak directly with the Owner and Breeder since they know the cat they are retiring best!
