I'd like to know if anyone here can recommend an effective and safe flea product? I had thought Sentry Natural Defense sounded like a good idea, but read some reviews and now I'm not sure. Seems the natural oils used in these products, particularly peppermint, can cause reactions in some cats. I have been using Frontline, which I've used for years on my other cats, but it doesn't seem to be working that well on Sophie. I've only seen one flea on her so far, but I don't want this to get out of hand. I just want to make sure whatever I'm putting her is safe and won't cause any reactions now or in the future
Thanks for your help

I like Revolution as it controls all parasites - fleas, ticks, mites, worms. I've been using it for many years. Someone else mentioned Advantage Plus as doing the same, but I've not tried that one.
I use Revolution too. I don't think I would use anything not sold by a vet's office also (like frontline, advantage, revolution) - although you can purchase them online for less than they seem to charge at the vet's office. Frontline didn't work on my old cat either - I had to change him to revolution.
I'm a long-time Revolution user also and have never found any reason to switch with my dogs so that's also what I use for the kits.
I use Frontline Combo for my dogs and now for my raggies too - when they were small I used Advantage as per recommendation of my vet
Revolution for us. We've tried Advantage but its kinda gooey, the Rev soaks in really fast.
I have always used Advantage on my pets so , the vet suggested it for these kittens, so far so good.
I have always liked frontline plus. Gotta get the "plus"! I have heard many good things about revolution as well. I would NEVER buy anything not from a vet, although now frontline and advantage can be ordered online or you can buy at pet stores without seeing a vet... just stay away from those over the counter kinds. The cheaper ones go in the blood stream, where are the vet ones stay in the first few layers of the skin.
To be honest, Solo has never been treated for fleas. Even when I have taken him to the vet they look so hard for flea dirt so they can sell me some meds, but never find a trace. He just does not get any, but if he does ever get them I will likely go with frontline plus since I have always had good luck with that on my dogs. I also had only put them on it every 6 weeks instead of 4, it seems to last long enough to wait an extra 2 weeks.
I like frontline. That's what I've always used and it's effective!
Is revolution good for heartworms? I just gave my kittens each a heartgaurd pill and used advantage (not plus) for fleas. The advantage was really messy.
So if I used revolution would that serve both purposes? That would be great.
Do you do revolution all year round? I am going to use up the 6 month packs of heartguard and advantage since I paid a lot for it, but I'm thinking of switching to revolution in the future.
