I feed performatrin kitten formula (sold here in Canada at PetValu, premium, organic, no grains). Dexter loves it but only when the can is first opened. I use the plastic fitted lid for the remainder and then double bag it in ziplocks but Dexter won't touch it unless it is fresh when the can is first opened, it also has an odor (not when the can is first opened) but this is obvious even with the fitted lid and ziplocks.
I'm wondering how everyone deals with left-overs in the can??
You may be onto something there Jan, I could convince hubby that it would actually save money in the long run ; )
On a more serious note, you may want to try slightly heating the leftovers if you have not already. Usually, stronger odor (not associated with decay) will be more attractive to a cat.
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
I have that same problem. Sassy really only likes a "new" can of food and since she is a very light eater, it can take several days (like 3 or 4) for her to finish a can. She does graze on dry food, too. What I've done is put a tiny bit of water in the bowl with the "leftover" and heat it in the microwave for about 4 seconds. It helps a bit..
smaller cans

Cello is like your Dex he will not touch left overs, I tried everything when he was a baby.
You may want to try removing the left overs from the can to Tupperware container, see if that helps someone here had said leaving in the can can change the taste of the L.overs.
Personally I think Jans idea, is the best solution to your problem:)HeHehe!!!

Funny you should say that because I solved this problem by getting a second ragdoll so the two of them get one 3 oz can each feeding that I split among two bowls for them.
I did find that before I went back and got my second baby, my first did not like the food as much after it was opened. ARe you heating it up? I always made sure to heat it up in the microwave just a little bit so it was room temp. But make sure to stir it so there are not hidden hot spots.
Mine aren't wild about it second time either - but I put some ground up freeze dried chicken on it and that seems to entice them to it. I also sometimes heat it a little in the microwave.
I have the same situation. I do warm it up but I haven't tried taking the leftovers out of the can and storing in a tupperware container instead. It frustrates me because the 5.5 oz can size is a much better value (MUCH better) but Newman is happier with the 3 oz cans due to lack of leftovers. (I won't lie...this occurred to me when I was waiting for Cooper to join the family
