Hi breeders,
I am curious to know...
What period of rest should a female queen have in between litters? Is there a standard most Ragdoll breeders follow?
How many years is a female cat generally used for breeding? Is there a range of time or amount of litters? Does it differ for male studs?
Thanks.

I think it varies from Queen to Queen, I have a girl here who has been calling monthly since she was 14 weeks old, I am attempting to feed her up all the time in between calls, but hoping when is starts to get colder (Sep/Oct) she will stop.
I would ideally like to breed 1 litter per year, per cat.
Usually "they" say 3 litters in 2 years.
GCCF (UK) say 17 weeks between registering litters.
We've also been told (by our governing body) not to have more than 3 litters in 2 years from one queen, and not more than 2 litters in any one year. We're aiming for 1 litter per queen per year as well. This standard is across all breeds and like sorcha said, every queen is different. I've heard of queens who call so much they don't eat and it's actually better for them to be mated & pregnant rather than let them hold out the entire year (I'm guessing these are rarer cases but it happens). I don't know of any standards regarding how many years a queen or stud can be used for breeding.
My personal limits are one litter per year per queen with the queen being spayed after her 4th litter. I know I can register more if I want to but my girls are members of my family and are not breeding machines, I want them to have a life beyond kittens.
