Just wondering how often breeders mate their boys to keep them happy? I guess a lot depends on the boy. If he has 3 girls all to himself (greedy! hehe), is he mated only when you want one of the girls to get pregnant, so approximately 3 times a year? (In human male terms this arrangement would probably be unacceptable...

Once you have a particular male, general experience does not make much difference. Just watch for stress or aggression that indicates unhappiness with inactivity. The rule of thumb has been that six is enough. However, a male may not need so many.

I was told not to get a stud until I had at least 3 girls to keep him happy so that would be 3 times a year like you say Jo. Trouble is, mine all want to mate at the same time of the year, especially since Blossom and Daisy didn't get pregnant earlier in the year. I now have Blossom, Susie, and Lola all due to be mated anytime now with Evie due in October/November. My problem now is Jackson isn't ready!! Can I borrow Fudge please
