Hey all.

This is something I've already noticed when we got her from the breeders. Ophelia has really dry paws (they crackkk), and it wasn't until today my husband told me that she bled. :/ What do you make of this?

Also, when she poops, she bled once. It seemed like she had her period.

- Amie

P.S. I am taking her to the vet this upcoming Thursday for one of her shots, and to schedule a spay date.
poor little Ophelia Sad I think you can get some special cream to help dry paw pads, other than that I can't be of much use! Hope all goes well at the vet.
A spot of bright red blood on the stool can indicate parasites or a small wound near the anus. Paw pads dry enough to break and bleed should also get attention. Both need a vet to determine what is going on and what needs to be done.
Aww poor baby. I hope she is better soon.
Try a product called bag balm.
Poor little baby ... I agree... I'd get a vet visit scheduled a.s.a.p.
Thanks guys. She already is seeing a vet this upcoming Thursday (it's the soonest they could give me). I have been putting vaseline on her paws. She's been doing well on it so far!

@ JanH; Her bleeding on her fur after using the litter only occured ONCE (thankfully). Should I still bring it up to the vet?

@ nycragdoll; Where do they normally sell bag balms?
Yes, mention it the vet so that he can look for wounds or some other source. As for the paws, I would use neosporin or a similar antibacterial. Absent the bleeding, I would use bag balm.
I Get Bag Balm in the local drug stores, in the hand lotion isle. CVS, Walgreens, etc. But I would definately see a vet before useing anything.
Hard to see any downside in neosporin, but if in doubt you can call and talk to a vet tech pending your appointment. In light of the delay, I would start to treat the paws if there are open wounds.
I never knew I could use neosporin. Thanks for that info! Smile
