Thanks, They told us what Mykah had but I can not remember the words since I could not say it.
dakotah loves school and we are looking forward to being that Therapy dog in time. I know they said not til he is 1 which is not til Christmas day.
Better go and check on if I can find out what Mykah has.
Just got off the phone with the animal hospital and you are right. What you said you thought he had he has. Now my question is they do not want him over 12# He is 11.8 haha not much to work with. I have to call back if he gains any and they want to put him on Science Diet light. Any thoughts?
Paula, sorry to learn of this problem with Mykah. Years ago, I owned a 3 lb. toy dog that was diagnosed with this knee problem. The vet said to just keep an eye on it, and all was fine for all the years she lived. I made sure she didn't jump down from things and had little stairs next to the bed and a pillow on the living room floor next to the sofa for her to use in jumping down. Of course she was so tiny, so had issues with jumping too high anyway. I did notice her knee went out sometimes (she then limped)....but rarely and somehow was fine within a few minutes again.
I'm sure with a cat, jumping would be a bit too tricky to monitor.
I am unsure how involved this type of surgery is?
Phoenix had been on Science Diet up until recently and did quite well on it.
Thanks. He sure had a limp and it sure did scare me. I guess losing a cat almost 2 yrs ago makes one more watchful. Yes he does jump but when his knee was at its worse he did not do anything but sleep. He had quit playing with his half brother or even the little dog we have so that told me he was not right.
Thanks so much for your input on Science Diet. I guess since I am one who uses holistic foods I wondered how it would go and is this going to keep him from gaining and will it harm him since he is a ragdoll and it is in their nature to be big. Alot of questions I need answers for.
Better go and again thanks.
A weight control food is often a good way to limit calories and continue to free feed.
I know that must have been scary seeing sweet and beautiful Mykah suddenly limping, let alone barely moving around!! So glad he is doing a bit better. Hope he doesn't need surgery, but if he does I just know all will go well. Sounds like he is in the best of caring hands with you.
If you are unsure about the Science Diet, you could check into holistic options. I have noticed a few brands of cat food carrying different lines, like the lite versions....more and more recently.
