Also, you need to pick a style that works with your own foot shape-- some feet can handle pointed toes or narrower toe styles, some can't. Also, don't wear anything with more than a 3 inch height difference (maximum!!!) between the ball of your foot and your heel-- so anything higher must have some sort of a platform toe. But every foot is different in terms of arch shape, strength, and flexibility, so you have to go with what your foot can handle.
Finally, on another note, I know I'm going to sound like your mom, but be age appropriate. If I were to see 14 or 15 year old girls (or even 16 or 17 year olds) in (for example) 4 inch heels it would definitely strike the wrong note... I'm searching for the right words to express that, but I'm sure you know what I mean even if you don't agree.

You don't sound like my mum at all. We come from completely different cultures, and I think that is something to remember. Plus it isn't like I wear 4 inch heels around the place, I bought them for my mum's wedding and have only worn them one place other. That was to a fancy dinner party, where they were the main part of my outfit. I didn't have a dressy dress so I wore skinny jeans with my stilettos instead. Wedge heels are completely different, and it isn't like people walking down the street know how old I am anyway.

About the arch being no more then 3 inches, I think that is my problem. I've always had small, narrow feet so the arch is obviously much bigger then if I was a size 8. There is no toe platform.

The shoes you have already bought sound like they are too big if they are slipping off of when you walk, can you buy heel grips over there? They may help. Wedges are always easier to balance on as there is more support for your feet, the tie ones look lovely, but expensive!!

Danni, those red shoes are really pretty.

I have searched around for heel grips, but ended up just wearing inserts in them as I couldn't find any. Bit of a nuisence though. They sell them on the Tony Bianco website so I might order some online next time I need/want to wear them out. I did get the smallest size they're sold in (I believe its a size 4 in UK sizes) and the lady who worked there actually fitted me but I was wearing stockings when I tried them on.

Those black shoes are amazing Danni, I think I've seen them before or very similar anyway. Are they from Chinese Laundry?

Thanks for all the advice guys, I also like the strappy Tony Bianco ones as well but I think the Wittner grey leather ones are a little more casual and I could also wear them with jeans in winter as they don't need to be tied around the ankle like the Tony Bianco pair do. I also think I'll give up on stilletos for a while, love wedges anyway and I would only be wearing stilletos on special occasions so my black toe-platform-less pumps will do just fine with some heel grips and some more practice before the big wedding day (luckily not for a while yet as Mum is having Charlotte in November and will wait until March/April next year now).

Is saying that you can't compare stilettos to wedges right? As in a 3 inch pair of stilletos, for example, is not the equivalent of difficulty as walking in a 6 inch pair of wedges. I guess I'll just have to try them on at the shops.. problem is if I love them, I can be a bit of an impulse buyer.. and I don't want to spend ages practicing to walk in them!
i know you said you are going to give up on them... but your stilettos are closed in toe arent they ??
My sister is is a bigger shoe size then me... and if i want to borrow her shoes - i normally just stuff the toes with tissues Tongue Dont know if that will help you? But it stops be from sliding down into the toe of the shoe and it coming off my heel.

I dont own any wedges, but i think it might be safe to say that they cant be compared to stilettos. I assume you dont have to worry about balancing in wedges because they have a full, flat base.

Please show us which ones you choose - I'd love to see Smile
Definitely can't compare stilettos and wedges! So much easier to balance in wedges and they are so much more COMFORTABLE!! I think you'll really like the wedges, though they may take a bit to adjust to the height difference (I'm talking a few minutes) when you first put them on.

Stilettos are still one of the most beautiful things that a woman can wear, but unless its to an important event I just can't put up with the pain in wearing them. Sigh...
That's a fantastic idea Meghan, I can't believe I didn't think of that.. It's so simple but so perfect! Smile

Thanks Jenny for the advice, wedges sound like heaven compared to stilletos!

The shops that sell those two shoes are in the same shopping complex so I'll go try them both on when I have time next/have enough money and I'll be sure to let you know what I choose. Smile
