In case I've confused anyone, Cooper was seen by 2 vets. I had mixed feelings on the 1st vet he saw the day after I brought him home. (I liked her but not really the office or staff). 2 days later we went to another vet (I was worried about his cold symptoms)

I really liked the new vet and the office and the staff and decided to stick with her. She provided the Revolution. She is not the same doctor that gave us the Tresaderm but she saw him 2 days after he started the meds and knows about it.
I think that maybe I would err on the side of caution and take him for another vet visit. Since he's had the Tres and the Rev so far, the stuff in his ear could be residual clearing from the canal and you may not need to give him more of the Tresaderm if he doesn't have actual mites now. Hope that it isn't mites for poor Cooper again!!!
I called and they said we should move next Saturday's visit up to tomorrow (which I did). Thanks everyone!
I've heard earmites can be recurring sometimes, so maybe that's what is happening with sweet Cooper. Hope all goes well and he gets them cleared up soon. Sounds like you found a good vet, too.
Well, it's sort of weird. His ears were really bad again with a ton of debris....but the vet didn't find mites. I'm sort of baffled because 3 weeks ago he had mites. He took his Tresaderm for a week and then had Revolution. At the end of that week his ears were clean. (they were done at the vet's). 2 weeks go by and they're really bad again - but no mites? I don't understand where all the ick came from if the mites are gone?

The vet flushed them twice and cleaned them as best she could but when she really got going she could see they were very irritated and painful with scratch marks from his itching. She had me resume the tresaderm.

That was Saturday. She wants to see him again today (initially she was going to recheck them in a week but after flushing them twice and seeing how irritated and sore they are she changed it to today). If they don't look a lot better she will suggest we move up his neuter surgery and she can clean his ears really well while he's under sedation (though I still don't know why they'd have so much debris and be bothering him so much if she didn't find mites this time?)

We'll take it a step at a time I guess. Good news on the neutering though....one testicle is where it belongs now and she was able to find / feel the other one as well. She doesn't believe the one that isn't where it belongs will ever make it there but it's still good news since she can feel it and it's not hidden behind internal organs / requiring exploratory surgery.
Hi, maybe the gunk is just the dead mites etc coming out of his ears now they've been killed.

Oh and that's good news about his testicles!
