I'm going to keep at it. He definitely baffles me a bit he wants me close to me when he eats. If I leave the room, he leaves his dish to see what I'm up to. He purrs like crazy when I pet him or groom him. Sometimes he'll sit sort of near my feet - but that's as good as it gets (so far) with him. I don't believe he's ever even walked over to me to be pet (even though he likes it when I walk over to him and pet him)
I have some treats he likes but he won't even hop up on the chair next to me to get one. (there's plenty of room for him to do it without having to be on me or in my lap and he can definitelyl do it). I'll try to lure him closer each night until eventually he'll hop up for one.
