I love how I can get away with sharing my silly worries here and people not only put up with me...they help!

(thank you in advance)
I'm so excited to bring Cooper home in 17 days!
It's going to be a hot day and the drive is about 2 1/2 hours. I'll be driving alone; it can't be avoided.
So - would it be best to put him in the back seat so he won't be close to the actual air conditioning vents (but he'll be out of reach) or sit him in the front passenger seat (in his carrier of course) and just angle the a/c vents up at the ceiling so they don't blow directly on him?
Yes, I'm seriously thinking about this.

I think it is a good question.
When I have to take mine out and it's hot .I frist cool car down

Then I place mine in front seat with seatbelt around cage,,,, just in case I need to do some fast driving

I do point vents up and away.
But I guess it depends on your carrier all so.
I'm sure you'll get more thoughts on this.
He has a fur coat. Put his carrier in the front seat, buckled in so that he can see you. You can divert the vents, drape a towel over the side of the carrier facing the dash or put some bedding inside up the side of the carrier if it makes you more comfortable.
So "Cooper" is it? Good name

I'm with Linda - kitty in carrier, carrier in front seat with seat belt fastened around it, air vents pointing upwards so the whole car is kinda cool. Also kitty can see you if carrier is angled towards you

Have you guys ever heard that it's best to place the carrier facing forward to avoid car motion sickness in cats? I swear I read that somewhere so I always have my cats facing forward (front seat, buckled in, air vent angled away) just in case. I don't know if it is true or not.
No I haven't hear that Teresa, but it still might be true! Ours reposition themselves a lot during the journey so even if the carrier were angled forwards, they would probably end up facing backwards anyway

Listen to all you lucky people with air conditioning in your cars! Hahahahaha! I drive the bombiest car around... its rusty, has no power steering and no airconditioning. It's my dads old thing he gave me when i got my license and i still havent bought a new one
I agree with everyone else. Carrier facing you so you can talk to him and attempt to pat him through cage. He'll probably even enjoy the air conditioning. Edward loved it in summer when i would turn the air con on in the bedroom.
Haha I would looooove air conditioning in my old bomb!
I agree. It would be best to have him in the front seat, facing you, with the vents facing up so that there's nice, circulating air around the car rather than a gale blowing right in his little face.
He'll feel more comfortable being able to see you, and you wont feel as bad!

Thanks, everyone! I'm such a worrier I thought the a/c combined with the stress of leaving his mom and sisters might make him more prone to catching a cold or something upper respiratory.
I'll sit him right next to me so I can tell him what a good boy he is and just make sure the vents aren't blasting directly on him...and try to relax (me, not him) about the whole thing so I'm not a nervous wreck by the time I get him home.
And yes, I've definitely settled on the name Cooper for him.
So I'll have Newman (after Paul Newman) and Cooper (after Gary Cooper).

Mostly I just like the name though. The boyfriend wanted to name him Redford. Robert Redford has great blue eyes and makes more sense with Newman - but I don't like the name Redford. Cooper it is! Can't wait to get him home.
Halebop, so exciting for you with just a few days left til you bring Cooper home! I faced Phoenix towards me, but at an angle because I'd heard the same thing Teresa did about a cat getting car sick while watching things go by sideways. It wasn't too warm that day, so I mostly just used the vents for air circulation and even turned those upwards so they weren't blasting right at his face.
