Linus's eyes sometimes flicker/wobble (for lack of better terms) as he's looking at me. They move back and forth rapidly while he's staring straight ahead. I don't notice Gussie or BLue having this problem. I never noticed Linus doing this before, but my son pointed it out to me, and now I see it.....and I wish I didn't. What is this, does anyone have any experience with this problem???
This is called nystagmus. It is associated with vestibular disease and a head tilt. Inner ear infections can be a cause. It is often not a real problem for the cat, but it is worth having a vet check it in case it is associated with an infection that needs medication.
Has he always had this or is this recent?
Nystagmus is when the eyes quiver and is usually from side to side.
This is most often found in the Siamese cats.
Usually there is no associated problems that are discernable.
If the cause is inner ear infection (otitis interna) that a vet visit is called for.
Judy I sure hope that Linus is okay. How long has he been doing this? Please keep us updated
I hope it's not due to any illness. Simone used to do it a little and kind of zone out at the same time. My cat sitter swore she was having seizures, but she seemed to outgrow whatever it was. Hopefully Linus will outgrow it too!
Judy, Im sorry Poor Linus I sure hope this goes away for him.
It sounds like you have already received good advice from Jan and Gail so all I can say is how sorry I am Judy. Poor Linus seems to have had one problem after another, I really do hope you can get him sorted out soon.
Oh strange.....I notice this happens with Ruby from time to time too...it's almost like they are trembling. How is he?
Linus is at the vet today having neurological tests. I'll keep you posted.
It will be interesting to see if they find out anything. Hope all is well with the little guy - he's sure had his share of problems.
