After reading about Stormy
I thought it would be great if we could set up some kind of fund for
cases like Stormy. It would have been a crime for Stormy to be put down.
The economy is bad and there are alot of good people that have lost there jobs ,,as of no fault of there own and fall on to hard times.

What are your thoughts and how can this be done?
I know we have alot of smart people on this forum so don't be shy I want to hear what your thinking
How can we raise money for the forum for emergency purposes.
Linda, you read my mind! I thought the same thing about Stormy, that if she didn't get the grant how we could get together a bit of money for them. We have such a great group of people here.. I have no idea how to get it started but hopefully someone here will!
Thinking... thinking... could we set up a bank account? that way we could just add what we can electronically.
Good idea Jo did my google thing and came up with this site.

throwing it out here for thoughts ideas and wisdomSmile
I think this is a wonderful idea. What ever we decide on, I'm in.
I'm so glad that others feel the same way I do! Like Pepper said... count me in on whatever you guys decide.

Linda, thanks for getting the ball rolling!!
I'm in too. A great idea! Poor Stormy.
In the rescue world we put out calls for donations all the time and I have found that the very best way to do it is to post the vet information so that people that want to assist with vet bills can contact the vet office directly to make a contribution via credit card towards the ongoing care of the pet. That way the donors are assured that their payment is going soley to the payment of vet care for the furkid involved.
There were cases over the years where sad stories would come in only to turn out to be unverifiable after a lot of donations had already gone to a paypal account. Some, unbelievably were totally made up stories to ellicit money for unscrupulous people. Doing the vet direct thing has worked well, there is no longer suspicion and any care questions can be answered by the vet clinic at the time of donation. It also cuts out the problem of what to do with any "overage" as the clinic lets you know when the bill is covered. It takes the onus off having to have a fund administrator etc.
I for one would never again add money to a paypal account because of things I've already seen happen.
You took the words right out of my mouth Dextersmum, although we would all like to believe that everybody who posts on these boards is genuine, and they would only ask for help if it was a real emergency for their furbaby, in reality people just aren't that honest! And will do very nasty things to obtain money in anyway they can.

I like the idea of paying direct to the Vet surgery thou! Maybe a paypal account could be set up for the forum, so that those who want to contribute can, and then when someone needs some help financially whoever was chosen to be in charge of the paypal account could contact the Vet Surgery in question and arrange the payment from the forum account. Rather than have lots of people all making small donations to the surgery.
I was thinking the same thing, but didn't know how to put it nicely! Haha... While we'd like to think that everyone in the world is as kind as we are, not everyone is! I would hate it if we were doing something out of the kindness of our hearts, only to find out we were being scammed. I like the idea of paying directly to the vet too.
