Dexy says, "My tummy hurts.."
I feel like he's been sick so much in his first year of life!! I got home today and had to deal with another "poop explosion." Not really poop all over the house, but all over his booty. I cleaned out the litterbox and he kept going back to it and looking in, then laying down, then going back and looking in it.... etc. When he finally when in to go he had a very loose poop, it was pretty much water. Sad

I put out some canned pumpkin which he wouldn't even look at. He laid down for a bit and then went in the kitchen and threw up. He's had bouts with diarrhea before but he's NEVER puked, he's never even coughed up a hairball! And this was a big puke too. It was mostly food (partially digested food). Now he seems a little better, he went and drank some water and ate a little pumpkin.

Anybody have any ideas what could be the cause of this? Like I said, he's had diarrhea in the past but most of the time it was because I changed food too fast and after giving him canned pumpkin it's always cleared up. It makes me nervous because now he threw up, I feel like maybe he's really sick. And obviously, he's not acting himself either because he doesn't feel good.

Awwwww, I'm too new to kitties to make any suggestions but I really hope that Dexie is feeling better soon, poor lamb. Just make sure that he doesn't get dehydrated. Healing energy being sent.
I have no idea what it is, but I do hope that he feels better soon.
Poor Dexter, I hope he gets better soon. Is Leo Okay?

Yea, Leo's totally fine. I hope Dex starts feeling better soon. Sad

Thanks everyone for the well wishes..
Oh poor sweet little Dexers...he must feel so ill and unhappy, but I bet that throwing up some of those stomach acids made him feel considerably better.

I really don't know what to tell you. Ruby threw up once and also had diarrhea and I think it must have been some sort of tummy bug. Maybe the food was a bit off? Not sure but we did take her to the vets and I think they gave her an antibotic or somesuch plus probiotics to sprinkle into her food. Maybe Dex is just sensitive like Ruby appears to be...especially if he does frequenly get diarrhea (at his age should he be mostly past this stage?). Mine have been on the RC Gastro Intestinal for 2 days and their poos are actually almost entirely solid now...hallelujah!!!!!

I totally understand....I feel like I am always carting Ruby to the vet for one thing or another and it seems that once one thing is better, something else pops up in its place.

As Jan has said before, the canned pumpkin treats the symptoms but not the cause, so I think you should take him in and maybe take in a sample of his poo.

Me and kittenbabies send your Dex heaps of love and kisses and some nice comforting tummy rubs! He'd better get well soon cause he's got no choice! Smile
(also some kisses for the ever-dapper Leo!)
Feel better Dexter!
