Recently I have noticed that Solo's hair on his head, right under his ears, is getting VERY sparse. You can see his skin/scalp through his few thin hairs in these two little patches right under his ears.
Is this something I should be worried about? The only thing I can think of causing this is his constant urge to want to rub his head on everything.
Coco has this problem too. It first started not long after we had her and she had ear mites and was constantly rubbing there. That was ages ago now but she still doesn't have much hair there. It is unlikely Solo has ear mites as you have no other cats she coiled of caught it off, so Id say it's probably nothing too worry about and like you say just because she likes to rub her head on everything

There is less fur there. You will tend to notice it more when he is out of coat. It is not a problem and he is not doing anything to cause it.
Samantha's, Simone's and Smoke's is all kind of sparse there.

Oooh that does make sense, I have noticed that Solo is definitely in his summer coat now and you are right, since then is when his under-ear hair is getting thinner.
I hope Solo does not have ear mites, I do check his ears once a month and they are always so clean. Don't you see the little black specs when they have mites, or do they get really deep down the canal and require a vet to look?

Did the hair fill back in more after the mites were gone?
it's still quite sparse Alisha, I think you can tell from my signature picture. Snowdrops is thicker.
