Hello,
After doing some research, I decided to get a ragdoll kitten. I am looking for a breeder who is close by because I don't want to ship a pet. So, if you are near northern CA and have kittens available, I would love to speak to you. I am looking for a female.

Thank you!
Janet
You can find nearby breeders through RFCI ( http://rfci.org/us.php ), Ragdoll International ( http://ragdollinternational.org/breederdir.shtml ) and FBRL ( http://www.breedlist.com/breeders/ragd_ac.html ).
Thank you! A few of these links are no longer available.

Try them now. The parentheses were being read as part of the URLs.
You may want to consider a rescue:

You really must check the shelters. They are filled with purebreds including ragdolls. The Agoura Shelter near me just had a few. I rescued a gorgeous young cat that iss a Snowshoe/Ragdoll from a high kill shelter in Lancaster, CA a few months ago. She's exquisite and looks exactly like both her breeds, an amazing combination. There are so many cats in rescues and shelters who are purebreds and Ragdolls certainly turn up. Please look diligently online in all the shelters in your area and look at rescues orgs too--you will surely find one. There is no need to go to a breeder when there are so many being euthanized as my little Sophie was about to be. I'm very grateful to have saved her and you will feel the same way.

Actually, the shelters are NOT filled with purebred Ragdolls! You can only say they are purebred if they have the registration paperwork!
Rescuing cats, particularly adults, is a fine idea. However, "mixes" are not pedigreed cats. A "Snowshoe/Ragdoll" (as is true with most breed designations) is nothing beyond shorthand for what the shelter feels will help identify and help place the cat. It is rarely about the ancestry of the cat.
