Hi everyone! I've loved Ragdolls since first coming across them 4 years ago on the internet, and just recently found myself in the position to be able to get a pet. That being said, we couldn't afford the $500+ that it costs to get one, so after a lot of web searching I came across an EbayClassifieds ad for "Unregistered Ragdolls." I looked it up, and I found that most "Unregistered" Ragdolls, are not purebred, and sometimes are only fluffy white cats with blue eyes? The price was right however, so we went ahead and got one of the Unregistered Ragdoll kittens. I asked the "breeder" if they had anything other than Ragdoll in them and she did deny it. Of course, then she went on to tell me about how many many years ago she had a Maine Coon Male that acted and looked just like a Ragdoll that she breeded with a Cat that she bought from Ann Baker in California... lol.
The good news is that the kitten we got is a sweetheart, a lap cat, she goes limp when you pick her up, she follows us everywhere, is very laid back, purrs a lot, doesn't scratch us intentionally and is just a great little kitty!
I was just wondering what everyone on this forum thought, does she look like a Ragdoll? Her face seems skinnier to me than most of the Ragdolls I've seen.
Also, could anyone tell me what her color progression is going to do and what she may look like when she's older?
I'd like to, in the somewhat near future get a registered Ragdoll as well, but I'm very happy with our little unregistered girl
(Hopefully I added the pics correctly!)

Hi, and welcome to the forum! Yes she does look like a tortie ragdoll, however, there are many non-ragdolls that look like ragdolls. Without being registered with a pedigree it is impossible to know if a cat is truly a ragdoll, and there is no reason for a breeder not to register a ragdoll if it is one (since it only costs about $10 and would allow the breeder to charge more and cover more of the cost of breeding) What does matter is that now you have a beautiful cat that sounds like everything you want. Enjoy her!
In fact, she does not look like a Ragdoll. Her ears are too large and closely set, her eyes are too almond shaped and her face is too narrow, all of which you would see from a Siamese ancestor.
One should not support folks who breed these cats. Rather than placing $700 pedigreed cats for $300, they are placing a $50 moggie for $300.
However, she sounds like a wonderful cat and I am glad she is so nice and that you are happy with her.
She does Not look like a Ragdoll other than she is some sort of pointed cat. There is a standard on the TICA and CFA websites and there they describe the headset and body in addition to accepted colors and patterns.
There are some photos of nice quality cats there as well. Check it out.
I was thinking her eyes and ears were not the right shape for a raggie too. She is a lovely girl and looks like an absolute sweetheart

Welcome to the forum!

Lol! I thought that she looked more like a long haired Siamese as well- and I based that thought on the very three things you mentioned!
We paid $50 for her, she came with her first shots but sadly had fleas, ear mites, and seemed skinnier than I thought was healthy but the Vet said nothing about her weight and he saw her less than a week after we brought her home. I didn't know to, or even how to, check for ear mites when I was at the "breeder's" house. I'm just thankful that she is healthy now AND has the temperament of a Ragdoll.
Next time I am definitely going to choose where we get our next kitten from much more wisely
Oh and TeresaK, thanks for the warm welcome!
So glad you did not pay any financial penalty and the condition problems are over. We will enjoy seeing her pictures as she grows and hearing about her.
I'm glad too! She has to have at least SOME Ragdoll in her, she is SUCH a sweetheart- unlike any cat/kitten I've ever been around or had. I'll be sure to post and ask for everyones input on the breeders that I look into once the time comes that we are able to get her a playmate. Her name is Willow btw!
Thank you everyone for your responses as well as all the warm welcomes!
Love her name!!! She is really cute! You'll have lots of people here to ask for advice next time you get a purebred rag!
Well, shows how much I don't know about the physical looks of raggies - but she's still beautiful and I do hope we get to see more pics of her. Be sure to stay around - you'll be bitten by the raggie bug even harder and possibly have a raggie companion for Willow soon!
