The Saga of Annabelle, a beautiful five year old bi-color ragdoll (as told to the best of my knowledge)

- Rescued from a shelter in 2009
- Living with a lovely couple and their five cats
- Ughhhh Annabelle doesn't like cats!
- Endless fighting - Annabelle so very unhappy
- Lovely heartbroken couple finally decide to find new home for their darling Annabelle.
- Enter Bruce. Bruce has no pets and has never had a cat. (Bruce had read about how docile and saw how beautiful Ragdolls are and had already decided he wanted a Ragdoll.)
- Bruce hears about Annabelle and wants to help but is worried after hearing about Annabelle's aggression towards cats.
- After much deliberation Bruce agrees to rescue Annabelle and buys her from the lovely couple.
- Bruce stocks up on all kinds of goodies identical to what Annabelle had at home (litter tray, cat tree, bowls, food, etc, etc)
- Annabelle comes to her new home!
- Oh my - Annabelle doesn't like Bruce, hissing and starring him down!
- Bruce is careful to be kind and gentle and tries feeding turkey and eveything else he can think of.
- Annabelle likes the turkey, but not Bruce.
- A week goes by and Bruce is disheartened. Annabelle is aloof and not happy. He feels Annabelle is not the right cat for him nor he for her.
- The lovely couple are traveling but with so many cats, they're not right for Annabelle either.
- Bruce is determined not to let Annabelle end up back in a shelter (yea Bruce!) and is looking for someone with more experience with cats who can take in Annabelle and give her the patience and love and kindness she needs.

What is Bruce to do? Help!

This is an extreme case. Have a vet consider Prozac to see if she calms and adjusts.

First, I would say did he start off with a safe-room, or did he let her have full run of the home. If he did not start off with a safe-room, he should try that. Even homes without other animals will bennefit from having this saferoom. Next, have him try ignoring her..just leave her alone. Of course, he needs to make sure she has her food and litterbox. I think with time, she will come around.

I'm not sure on the safe room - probably not. I think it's just him and her in an apartment but I could be wrong. I believe the aggression was on the second day and he has backed off from approaching her except for giving her turkey and treats like that. I also think he works and she spends time alone. But again - not sure.

Bruce seemed reluctant to post here, so I offered to do so. I had engaged in emails with him about Annabelle and I wanted to try and help. I sent him the link to this thread so I'm sure he will read through and give better answers than I can.

This was really fast - as Annabelle has a new home with another woman local to New Orleans. I'm glad for Bruce and Annabelle but confllicted about not having knowledge of her anymore. I asked Bruce to pass on the info above. and I hope this time it works out for little Annabelle.
