I was just so excited, I thought I would share...

My Ruby has not quite been herself since Pyjamas came on the scene 2 months ago. However, we've been noticing some changes in her behaviour lately.

She never, ever purrs when Pyjamas is around, and yesterday she was letting me pat her and was purring up a storm with him in plain view. Last nite she was behaving rather affectionately twords me, and would flop onto her side several times and let me rub her belly and give her lots of pats. Usually she's only been affectionate after we put Jamas in the bathroom and she's alone with us....then once he's back in she reverts to her old avoidant behaviour. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it means a lot to us and I am over the moon at seeing my sweet little gal come back Smile

I also see them grooming eachother a lot more often, though it does usually turn into a bit of a fight. I think Jamas is still trying to show some dominance over her, and he attacks her when she's sleeping which must be beyond annoying! But I think she does miss his company at times.

here are a few photos of them from over a week ago...I caught them snuggling!

Ruby's leg on top of Pyjamas really makes me laugh....

That's great! I know about the grooming and then the fighting - that's exactly what happens with my girls.
Aaaaa your pictures are so sweet. It's great to see them getting along.
Awwww this is soooooo cute - maybe Jamas has decided to try and snuggle himself into her good graces Big Grin
Oh that is such great news! I am sure their relationship will only continue to improve Smile I love that las pic, Ruby looks to have a tongue the size of a dogs'!!!
It's always such a relief when behaviour reverts to normal after the introduction of a new kitten. I'm sure things will go from strength to strength now and Ruby and Jamas will best friends one day. It's lovely to see them sleeping together and grooming each other and it must be so good to have sweet Ruby back. Smile
Caught in the act! hehe Smile Ruby is subtly telling Pyjamas she's still the boss by putter her leg over him Tongue I hope this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Oh my gosh, she does doesn't she?? it's HUGE! I hope it does improve even more. She is a pretty difficult girl. Out of her litter she was the most nervous and hesitant so it's nice to see her bonding with Jamas now Smile

Thank you Smile I definitely agree! I know it takes time but I was really starting to worry that she was just never going to like him. I don't know if they're ever going to be best buds but I'm glad to see her more comfortable with him around at least Smile It is wonderful....it was so sad to see her change.

You know, I think she might be!! Such a crafty Ruby Smile I hope so, too! I just adore them both and want them to get along already! Smile
Hi,

May I ask how old Ruby was when Pyjamas came on the scene?

I am wanting to get a little companion kitty for my beautiful bicolor blue boy. Do you know, is it best to do this when he is still a kitten?

I am concerned about how that will affect my little sweetheart! Many say that a Ragdoll is happier with another cat in the house with him.

What do you think?

Thanks. Your feedback is most appreciated! Smile

Hello and welcome GeoVal!!

Of course you may ask, I'm more than happy to help Smile

Ruby was about 4 months old when we brought Pyjamas home.

I definitely think it's a good idea to get a companion kitten for your raggie boy. I think everyone on this forum will attest to that. All raggies are different of course, some are more shy while others and sweet and others still boisterous, so they will all react differently to some extent when introducing a new cat to them. But as they say, all great things take time and with time they will more than likely become good pals. Some are never able to get along at all but from what I can gather that's not the most common outcome, especially since raggies are usually very social cats.

As for timing, I don't know if it's necessarily better to bring a new kitten in while your boy is still a kitten...I'm sure he'd be more adaptable to the situation, but many people are also successful introducing kittens to older cats as well. If I were you, I would do it while he is little, that way he will have a buddy to play with sooner and they will have eachother for a long time to come Smile

I know it's scary...I was sad to see Ruby change but there are ways you can be sure to spend quality time with your resident boy, just you and him so he feels special! Smile We have to keep Pyjamas in the bathroom at nite because he doesn't have the best litter habits, and luckily for us Ruby loves this arrangement. We try to play with her, snuggle her, and give her treats when she's alone with us and she loves it!

It's so worth it when you hear them running around chasing eachother, wrestling, grooming eachother.

What is your boy like? What was he like with his littermates before he came home? It may help you to gauge how he'll react. Ruby is a naturally hesitant girl so her reaction to Pyjamas wasn't all that surprising.

I wish you good luck, and of course please feel free to ask any questions! Also, you've GOT to post pictures of your sweetie.....it's an unstated requirement around here ;-)!
