I have 3 raggies and one of my boys seems to have looser stools and seems to get some on his TUSHY on a regular basis, what is YOUR favorite litter for this breed?
TIA,
Sandy
We use the multicat Tidy cat standard clay litter...
I use the Crystals for my lil' Henri.. and she LOVES them.. and so do I!!! No smell... no nothin! Couldn't ask for anything better!!!!
Sincerely,
Jenn and Henri: )
I have tried clay however my male seems to carry a clump of stool with him every time.
When I take my cat to the vet, I have them give him a quick little shave of his butt area. He still gets "cling-ons" now and then, but less often. He isn't shaved real close, and it is just a very small area. Our local Petsmart also will do it.
I use Petsmart brand litter. I think it clumps well. After reading Jenn's and Henri's raves about the Crystal, I am tempted to give it a try. There is nothing worse then catpan odor!
Bye for now, Judy and Gus
I use Fresh Step clumping litter.
There is one cat who does occassionally get clumps attached to her hind area. It may be the position she is in when she does her thing that creates this.
I personally would never use a clay based litter. I like the all natural brands, with my favorite being Worlds Best Cat Litter. It is a corn based litter. We have young kittens and like any baby, they like to explore with their mouths and it can cause blockage. However, even if we didn't I love the way WBCL clumps and is easy to flush, and in Spring and Summer we can place it in our gardens, as it is biodegradable. It has less dust than many litters which helps with my allergies.
I agree that keeping the back end hairs trimmed is a great solution to the problem. (If only they came with teflon britches..

) I did want to mention that loose stool could possibly be from an intestinal parasite and a regualar worming regimen is important. Many flies and other insects that come into our home carry these parasites and some can transfer to humans.
Best Wishes,
Stormi
'World's best' cat litter was introducted to me by my breeder it's wondeful stuff smells nice too its corn based i think. The main reason it's so good is cos you can flush it down the loo !!
Recently another breeder told me 'Cat's best, gold ' is another kind especially for long haired breeds its similar to worlds best but has smaller granules and you don't get litter tracking also it doesnt have any smell to it.
I'm ordering some from zoplus here in the uk
I am tempted to buy the worlds best.
I am using scoop away or tidy cat but there seems to be a lot of dust.
my breeder used dr. elseys....I think I am going to try that..
has anyone else used that before?
I am using World Best and I really like it. It really makes a huge difference in my allergies...the clay-based clumping litter was tough for me to deal with...I was wearing a mask, and now I don't need to at all. I also like the fact that if Jensen (our dog) somehow got into it, it would be safe. I don't flush it because we're on septic but I love Stormi's suggestion of just putting it in the garden.

Moe transitioned to it really well.
