I dont understand. Why would a spammer post to a forum?

I get quite a few spammers to my Megailee Ragdoll email address and several breeders probably do as well because they see it as a business type email.

They usually have something in their signature with links to something they sell. Admin usually removes them when they find them. Just looking at the name on this one and then seeing what was posted is a giveaway on it.

Could someone please explain a few terms to me (I'm old!) - spammer & troll, & so forth? Thanks!

Just google and you will find out the answers... This is what I get from googling (source from wikipedia) :-

"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion"

"E-mail spam, known as unsolicited bulk Email (UBE), junk mail, or unsolicited commercial email (UCE), is the practice of sending unwanted e-mail messages, frequently with commercial content, in large quantities to an indiscriminate set of recipients. People who create electronic spam are called spammers."

They drop their links in the signature....backlinks help with search engine rankings and some people click through to their site directly.
