WHat a horrifying thing to happen in your own home, no wonder they want to move. I'm so gald the cat is going to be ok, it could have been so much worse.
Over here in the UK the dog and owner would have been found, the dog destroyed under the Dangerous Dogs Act and the owner fined or imprisoned. I wish it were the same worldwide and then dog owners would perhaps be a little more careful with their dogs.
The poor thing, having claws ripped out like that! Kitty must have been so frightened

I agree Jane, if there were more harsh consequences then people would take more care with their dogs. Makes me mad. Grrrrrrr
At the very least the dog would have been shot had it come in my house. I was taking a shower early in the morning getting ready for work, Koa was still a puppy. He came running into the bathroom and whining. I got out of the shower and there was a giant pitbull beating its head against our sliding glass door trying to get to Koa (and we had a private backyard). When I walked Koa a little bit later the dog was nowhere to be found, but had he been there and tried to go after Koa he would have ended up with a bullet in his head. I made sure I walked Koa while holding onto my Glock for the next few days at least. I have a pitbull/bulldog mix, and he is a sweetheart, and I have no hate against the breed AT ALL. I have a lot of anger towards loose animals, especially when they're aggressive. What that dog and the owner did was unforgivable and a dog like that should at least be registered as dangerous and carefully locked up or destroyed. What a terrible owner to allow something like this to happen. So traumatizing for this person and her cat

This sounds like a bad nightmare. Stephen King is right! My daughter was attacked in the face by a young pit. It tore her upper lip off and ripped her face open really badly.
There needs to be some serious consequences for people who don't obey leash laws.
OMG, these stories are terrifying! Jenny, that would have scared me too, and Kat... how AWFUL for your daughter.. how did her recovery go?
She had an excellent plastic surgeon. After two operations she lost her insurance and wasn't nearly through all they said she would need, but she looks really good considering. She was terribly hurt when she heard they had put the dog down. She's such an animal lover, I fear for her safety at times.
All these stories about dangerous dogs running loose, is so scary....oh my gosh KatLeen, I am so sorry your daughter went through so much trauma
