Jo - is it a Panasonic Lumix? I love those cameras. I have two of them and that's what I use. I really want a DSLR though, keeping the bug in my husband's ear in hopes of getting one for Christmas.
Haha yes it's a panasonic DMC-FS4 (whatever that means, I just read it off the camera!) It points and shoots - perfect!! Gotta admit its pretty good for my humble uses, Pete is the camera freak and he wants to get a good DSLR or whatever. Keep bugging your hubby Teresa, eventually he'll give in! Hehe glad it made you laugh Katleen!!
I sasw an ad on tv for the new Lumix last night and I really want one. The DSLR's are ok but they can be heavy, especially with a really good lens attached and they can be a bit cumbersome too.
T, do consider Pentax Kx if you are going to get a DSLR (as a gift from your hubby of coz)... Hehehe... Everyone will "oooohh and aaaahhh" wherever you go with Kx...

Like Lindsey said, I have a NIKON d5000. I absolutely love it, however there is a steep learning curve if you want to take advantage of all of its features. It also fairly expensive too, but worth it in my opinion. If you don't want to go with a dslr, I have heard great things about the NIKON coolpix. It has an amazing zoom and all of the shutter/apature settings are preset into scene mode, but you can still control white balance and ISO. It's probably one of the best point and shoot cameras out there, and its cheaper than a dslr.

Lindsey always has great shoots and it looks like it take great videos too.
We have a camera speciality shop in my area maybe check and see if you do.
I know if we buy the camera from them they offer free lessons on any camera you buy.
My SLR does have a video function but I rarely use it. The videos I take and post on here are always from my iPhone. The SLR videos are kinda of weird, you have to manually focus them and especially if I'm video taping the cats they run all around and get out of focus all the time. That's why I don't like using it for video. Unless I'm doing something wrong, lol I don't know.

I have no idea what you guys are on about... I use a LUMIX that I won in a Hungry Jack's contest...
Jo....just LOLOLOL I can totally relate.....I'm not adept at cameras either as can be seen by the pics I take of Phoenix.
I see Wilson gave some fantastic camera details with links....so hopefully I will learn alot. Thanks Wilson!
Wilson -those are cool looking! I"ll definitely look into them - but I think I'll stay with Panasonic, even when I do get a SLR. I haven't seen those before - the rainbow one is crazy and my niece who is a professional photographer thinks the Pentax are the best.
