While browsing on ebay, I came across someone selling software for breeders that lets you track pedigrees, matings, litters, weights, show awards, finances etc. for all your breeding animals, and it reminded me of the thread about how breeders file all their records. The program is pretty basic but it seems to cover all the important things and is accessible at the touch of a button. Anyone used software like this?
There is one called Breeders Assistant but I haven't seen it working although I knoww a lot of breeders use it over here. There's another one that Sue, my mentor uses but I can't find it on google and can't remember what it's called. I will find out and let you know.
Thanks Jane Smile The one I found on ebay is called KinTracks, it isn't expensive so I'm guessing it has limitations. I'd be interested to know if it's any easier for keeping records than the old-fashioned pen & paper way (which I am partial to hehe).
There are several available. Some offer free download to try out. I would recommend doing that first to get a feel of how different the ones work and the features they offer. The only cost is time ; )
Breeders Assistant has a free downloadable to try and I have been using it for a couple of months and its a very good programme. I was also looking into KinTraks would be interested to see if anyone has used this. However at a cost of around £10 may be worth giving it a go anyway?
We downloaded the free version of KinTraks, but we only have little Guin at the moment (6 months old) so we might have to wait a while before we can start using the progeny section! So far so good tho, uploaded photos and tracking health/vaccinations etc. Might have a look at Breeders Assistant too, thanks!
