Tomorrow (Monday) Tonka and I are taking our first road trip in my wheelchair. I bought a soft carrier for this road trip so I could hook it around my wheelchair and hold it on my one leg since I don't have a lap. He is nervous when the cars go by us on the sidewalk so I figured the carrier would be the safest way to go. I have never been as far as we are going in my wheelchair before so I am a bit nervous about the trip. I'll be bringing water for us and my DS to play while I wait for him. I'll also be settling my nerves while I wait too.

My girlfriend used to help me with this but she had a mastectomy 2 weeks ago so I am on my own now. I think it's about 2 miles to maybe 2.5 miles one way and will take us about 45 minutes to get there. We are leaving at 7:45am in the morning. His appointment is 8:30 and I will be staying there till he is done and then we do it all over again to get home. I will let you all know how it went and new pictures of course. I guess I just needed some encouragement. It's a BIG trip!! Thanks for listening!!
Good luck Dorothy. I'm sorry but I mustve missed it - where are you and Tonka going?

i hope your wheelchair is one of those motorised ones too?

Have a great road trip Smile

Sorry, I forgot to put we are going to the groomers. Tonka badly needs a haircut. He won't let me use my clippers. I am hoping in time he will but for now I will have to go to the groomers. We are leaving soon.
Hope you're safely on your way and all goes well so maybe you can take more "road trips"!!! Waiting for you to report back in....
Hope you have a good trip! Oh the DS can be such a lifesaver hehe. Hope you bring your camera, can't wait to see the handsome little fellow after his haircut!
It's 7:35am right now and I will be leaving in 10 minutes. I am a nervous wreck and about to toss my cereal I ate a while ago. I will let you know how we did when we get back and I will post pictures of the newly groomed Tonka. Thanks for thinking about us.
Dorothy, I hope you may be on your way back by now, or at least almost ready to set off. You have been incredibly brave doing this on your own and I know Tonka appreciates it. It's amazing what we can do for the sake of our family Smile I hope your friend is well and recovering from her mastectomy, and that she will be fully recovered in time.
Dorthy have a safe trip. I will be thinking about you. Can't wait to see Tonka.
I hope you're doing well Dorothy and having a good trip! That is a very long trip on a wheelchair (heck, I think its a long trip on a bike!), so I hope you get back safe and sound and that Tonka looks lovely!

We're lucky that you have been a good trip and you encountered such that experience. Having in the wheelchair was not so easy but you did it in a simple way to use a wheelchair and you are comfortable on it. Might that you been are in good situation and you have been recovered as time goes by.
