Every night Charlie has a crazy little outburst!

When I get home from work around 5.30pm he'll meet me at the door, we'll have cuddles, I'll give him his wet food, and we'll have a little play. I then do dinner for my boyfriend and I (with Charlie circling round my legs!) then after dinner I'll play with Charlie some more. He'll then usually want some more cuddles and we'll come and be the perfect little lap kitty for about 20 minutes.

Then, around 8-8.30pm he seems to be overtaken my some kind of crazy cat demon! He'll get up from his nap, shoot across the living room floor, pounce on things that aren't there, run around the living room at about 100mph, run the full legnth of the living room then shoot up to the top of his scratch post, slide his way down almost falling as he goes, run the living room again, back up the post again, chasing shadows on the wall as he goes, often bumping into the walls as he skids across our wooden floor, and just in general being a totally crazy cat!! After around half hour of this he'll then get bored, and come back and sit on the sofa with us!!

Oh and during this time he's not interested in us or playing with any of his toys!!

Its so funny to watch, especially as when he jumps he literally jumps with all for feet coming off the floor and looks like a little ninja flying through the air!

My question is, do your Raggies have mad outbursts like this, or is Charlie just a little but crazy!?!! TongueBig Grin
This is common in cats and the outbursts are called the "midnight crazies" because that is the time they seem to happen. Startling if you do not know about it. Another favorite is late at night for them to awaken with a start, sit up and intently look at the door. This is also a dog favorite.
My question is will this ever stop?

Or "8pm crazies" In Charlies case! LOL!
Good to know its a pretty normal thing then and he's not just a few screws short of a tool box! LOL!

He also does the door thing, he sits right up like a little meercat looking at the door! LOL!
My cats have their nightly crazies too. Dexter does it so much sometimes that he will start panting! He races all around with this devilish look in his eyes, up and down the cat tree, under the bed, over the bed.... So glad to know mine aren't the only ones that do it! I think it's funny, until they decide to have their crazy moment right when I'm trying to go to sleep!!
lol -- clearly we are in the same stages since we brought our kittens home around the same time! We should pen-pal and let eachother know what training methods work!

Is Charlie playing "fetch" yet? Kevin is all about it right now!

He had his 10pm crazy which also involved scratching my face while I was trying to sleep lol. But this is the first time he did this...and probably not the last time. It's funny because this always involves me when he behaves this way and usually attacking my hands, feet, legs, arms, face.. you name it! It's not super aggressive and I know he is not trying to hurt me. If I yelp in pain he'll stop and lick the "wound" for a few minutes but then 2 seconds later he is off again. I am going to try growling at him -- making a loud sharp noise like "eh, uh" (the way you might say no to a child) usually does the trick, but when he is in his devlish mood not so much. My breeder mentioned to get a squirt bottle but I don't want that to translate to a fear of water since I am going to give him his first bath next week...not sure if that would even do that.
Maisie's crazy times are 8pm and 11pm - as predictable as her 7.10pm nap!
It's lovely when they are kittens and the litter all chase each other, just not so much when it's Alfie and Adonis having the crazies together. Two 2 year old, 16+ pounds of over-excited raggie running arroound the room, jumping across furniture and running up the curtains just makes you shrink back into the chair and pray Smile
Yup, we take cover when the boys get the crazies too! They bolt down the hallway (which is tiled) and sometimes forget to hit the brakes haha. All breakables have to be stored and the recycling pile taken outside, otherwise the house turns into 10-pin bowling alley!
Sammie....luved the visual while reading your description of Charlie's nightly crazies!! lol

Karissa....hopefully Kevin's scratching at your face was a one time thing. Kittens claws are like sharp little needles.....the breeder clipped Phoenix's claws the night before he came home. I plan to keep up with that job, too.
