Phoenix came home earlier than expected, and I've had him for a couple of days now! Smile Way too exciting! He is adorable and full of energy....& what a little pistol he is. LOL! Tongue

I hope to have pics soon, but my boy is on the move and it's tricky to get a good pic of him!

He is a huge purrer for his tiny size and he loves to be doted on and kissed and cuddled. He sleeps with me all snuggly and oh so precious. And he follows me everywhere I go!

But.....I've discovered he is a door dasher. When a family member goes thru the door, he just flies to get thru it....barreling across the room as fast as his little flame lynxpoint legs will carry him. lol I've shut off off several rooms because it was scary to see him teetering on the back of the washer/dryer, up on high ledges, etc. And I am not sure if a kitten knows how high of a distance they can jump down from? At 12 weeks old.....do they know this?

Until I know this...I want to keep an eye on him to keep him safe, so that's why I've been shutting the doors to the other rooms. But, it is a bit of a hassle, and even seems risky because we worry he might get his tail caught in the door as it is being shut. Sad So we pick him up, and then toss a toy he can chase so we can safely get thru the door. We only started the toy tossing in the last few hours, so it's not like he is coming to get thru the doors to fetch a toy.
yay Phoenix, I was wondering if you had him yet. He sounds like Phoebe she does all of that, but the door dashing has got less as I opened up the house to her, they just want to follow you everywhere and not miss a thing or your company.

Can't wait to see some pics and can fully understand what it's like trying to get good pics, that's why mine so far have been when she's resting. Enjoy Phoenix.
Sounds like he is a ball of energy!
you must be so excited to have him home! He probably is just is curious what is behind the doors and that is why he makes the mad-dash?

That makes total sense (Phoenix wants to be with me all the time lol).....and I'm glad to learn Phoebe stopped doing the 500 yard door dashes Shy when you opened the house up to her.

I saw some of gorgeous Phoebe's new pics....CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW LITTLE GIRL!

He is soooooo fun to watch! He plays so cute, just flying around here and makes me laugh. Some of his facial expressions are beyond sweet and funny.

I see you get your little Duncan on Saturday!!!! Smile

Good point! He's a curious little explorer....lol. Smile
Congratulations, it must be wonderful to have Phoenix home even if he is proving to be a handful. Enjoy this time, even the escape attempts Smile

Thanks Jane! It is so wonderful....I can't stop kissing and holding Phoenix....he is so beautiful and sweet...luv all his kitten energy too. Maybe I'm being over protective of him worrying about him not knowing how high up he can jump down from? Do kittens just know these things? It has been awhile since I had a little kitten.
Congratz!! Finally, your precious Phoenix is home with you... After all the waiting... Hehehe... Time to enjoy him and have lotsa fun... Be careful on the door-dashing part though... Hope that someone in the forum will be able to give you some sound advice on how to deter this behaviour...
Congrats on finally having your baby home! Those little flame boys & girls sound like a handful, I wonder if its the red gene? hehe. Hope to see new pics soon, if you can get him to sit still for a second Smile Enjoy your little purr-machine!
This is dangerous. Although kitten exuberance to be outgrown may be a part, I would not use toys. I would try to slow the worst of it with mild aversion, like shaking a can of coins or using a water pistol. It is a good idea when he is coming at anyone to just stop and pick him up. That is very dangerous for him and most kittens run up with their heads down and they can easily be stepped on, which can be deadly.
