Congrats on Phoenix being home!! He is a lovely kitten. He sounds wonderful!! Don't worry about the squirting him messing up his confidence it won't. It hasn't bother my Teddy at all and it's the only thing that will get his attention. I don't even have to use the squirt bottle now I just say I'm getting the squirt bottle and he stops doing what he isn't supposed to be doing!! I rarely have to squirt at him any more.

So long as you don't get him overexcited while he's on those ledges, I'm sure he will be JUST fine. He's probably well aware he's up high considering it took him some acrobatic skill to get up there in the first placeBut in the meantime the chairs are a really good idea
Have you bought him any cat trees to play on? Those are also great fun for them.
I personally keep the laundry room shut, in case I get any detergents on the floor and they step on them and wind up licking their paws later. Raggies in general are very much like shadows (get used to having a cat watching you do your business!!!! LOL), especially when you first bring them home. Phoenix is in a new environment and for now feels most safe when he is near you. You may find that as he settles and becomes more comfortable, from time to time the chord that binds you two will get a bit longer. He may go off to explore a bit more or he may be the type that just always has to be next to youMy silly kittens like to be near me but sometimes they run off and I can hear what sounds like thunder coming from the second story as they run around like crazy above our heads ;-)
I suggest you do definitely keep an eye on him when he's investigating new spots, or spots with things he can potentially get in to. This way you can start to teach him the rules of the house.
He really is such a sweet boy, I love his dear little face...I can understand constantly giving him kisses!
LOL well they're definitely exciting....;-) It's funny how different they are. Will Phoenix be the only kitten in your household?
Thanks Jums! You're right about a kitten knowing their jump limits.....watching Phoenix this past week, I can see that he does know. I'm still careful of him going off something backwards, but really I guess those ledges aren't all that high. I'm going kitty tree shopping next week. Sounds silly, but I read Ragdolls are floor cats....and I see they are not. He does have a tall scratching post.
I laughed as I read your sentence about hearing the thunder from your 2nd floor.....sounds like your Raggies are having a blast! I got Phoenix a wand toy that sits on the floor and has a ball on the end....it spins around, being battery operated. He luvs that toy, and actually isn't my shadow while he plays with it. Hahaha Such a little sweetheart and so playful.
And.....no more door dashing!!! Thank goodness for his sake! It was because he wanted to follow me everywhere & being new to this breed, I didn't realize how strong that need is for them.
Yes, Phoenix is my only cat. I've always been a 1 cat person....I'm not sure if Phoenix would be willing to share anyway.
The breeder said he always wanted to be with her, over his littermates from a very early age. So, she knew he would luv getting all of the attention and being the only cat.(06-03-2010 11:55 PM)jellybean Wrote: [ -> ]Ohhh!!!! I can't wait to see pictures of Phoenix
he sounds like a real sweetie!!!!So happy for you enjoy.
Hi Linda, thanks so much!
I posted some pics of Phoenix in the gallery. He's full of kitten energy....so much fun! I've been wanting to tell you how much I enjoy reading about Leyla & Cello! Especially the story of how Cello holds Leyla down to groom her because she doesn't have time for it. LOL....just adorable.

Oh, so good to know this about the water squirting not messing with his self-confidence. Thanks Dorothy!

Teddy & your cute as a button pup Aristotle are magnificent! Luv your signature.

I'm so glad to hear you are having so much fun with him. I adore his dear little face..he really has a very sweet expression in your sig, doesn't he?
Haha oh..I can just imagine Phoenix so focused on his toy he doesn't have time to worry about your whereabouts until he kills it!
I agree with you. I am really shocked with just how attached the Ragdoll breed is to humans. reading is one thing but actually experiencing the myriad habits of a raggie trying to stay close to its owner is really fascinating and surprising.
I'm glad for you....it sounds like Phoenix is absolutely perfect for you and you entertain each other plenty!

We did water pistol with both of our boys and only every once and a while they'll have another go. Congrats on the beautiful, slightly crazy (as we want them) boy!

Totally agree with you on the pic of Phoenix in my sig.....the breeder must have really fluffed up his ruff to get such a good pic!
I am really amazed at how strong a Raggies need is to follow and be with their owner all the time....it is so wonderful!!! Thanks Jums....he is a perfect & so entertaining, too. lol(06-09-2010 03:17 AM)Albus Wrote: [ -> ]We did water pistol with both of our boys and only every once and a while they'll have another go.
