Full Version: One of my cats is a piggie

So quick background: i have two kittens- both around 5-6 months. One poster mentioned that my raggie was a bit slim (and funnily enough, my russian blue is a bit fat) so i started watching them eat. I noticed two issues: my russian blue is pushy during meal time and will swap bowls once he is finished. Also, my raggie is a really slow eater and a picky eater. I tried feeding my raggie extra food (while locking the other cat out) but he only eats a small amount and my other kitty meows the house down (you would think i am hurting him!)
Any ideas?
Some cats will eat wet food faster - or certain wet foods. Look for one that you can offer the picky eater privately. (Try putting HIM up with the food.) However, do not assume a cat cannot be thin. An active, alert and thin cat, including a Ragdoll, is fine.
Karima one of ours is a piggy too! Guinevere (the youngest, we call her the little "hoover"), will gulp down her dinner before the boys have even got through half and then start on their plates! They have access to dry food all day so we're sure they are all getting enough. Lancelot eats very slowly because he had 3 teeth out recently, I usually stand guard and gently push her away with a "no" when she goes for his portion. If she's persistant I'll distract her with a toy and it usually works!
