My name is Siobhan (pronounced shiv-vorn) and I am a uni student in NSW. I will be adopting a Raggie kitten in Dec 2010 and have joined up here to recieve some valuable advice on owning this wonderful breed!
I have a 20 month old German Shepherd, who grew up with cats (a cantankerous old moggie whom we lost to the roadside last Nov) and is missing having a companion around the house.
I would love some sound advice on introducing large dogs to kittens. He has a great temperament, but still has that bumbling pup attitude and his antics might be frightening to the little one (the main concern I have about adopting a new kitten).
I am also building a DIY cat enclosure around the side and would love some feedback/advice/stories on how to best go about it.
Looking forward to speaking with you all,
Siobhan
Hi Siobhan! Welcome

I'd be very interested to see how your enclosure is coming along, we've been thinking about making one ourselves but lack the handyman skills

You'll find lots of advice here and friendly people too! You will just love being owned by a raggie, wow december is a while away, you have lots of time to prepare!
Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your raggie in December

I am owned by 2 raggies, 4 moggies and also 2 German Shepherds! They are wonderful dogs aye!...Look forward to pics of your Shepherd in the Other Pets section

hi and welcome! .... hope youenjoy it here .. as i do!
Hi Siobhan, welcome to the forum.
Having a kitten with a lively dog can be a very entertaining experience. Do your research well when you start looking for a breeder and find one where the kittens are confident and well socialised. You may even be able to find one who has dogs themselves so the kittens are already used to dogs. Just remember, no matter how good your dog is never leave it alone with the kittten and food, accidents can and will happen!
[/font]Welcome Siobhan. I have always had dog and cats together and never had a problem. My daughter has an Australian Shepard and he loves when they bring home a new kitten.
