Hi

I have 7 month female seal-mitteed ragdoll. She gets a bit lonely during the day. So I am considering getting a mate fore her. Not sure to get a cat similar in age or a new kitten?

Any suggestions?
Hi, and welcome to the forum. I hope you'll share your girl with us in pics. At 7 months I would think that she is still young enough to be accepting of a cat close to her age or even a kitten with little problem. However, she would probably even accept and older cat if that was what you wanted to get - it may be more of a problem of the older cat accepting her though.
Ragdolls like feline company and tend to be indiscriminate in their affections. Any age should work and the only differences may be the length of the introductory period, perhaps tending to be a bit longer for older cats.
We got two and introduced them to cats ages 11 yrs and 2 yrs and it was slow but worth it. The other raggie accepted him quickly. They were half brothers. They sure have grown.
So go for it.
Thank you for your advice. Does it matter if it is a female or male companion?
No. Some think that there might be less territorial competition from your female with a male, but there is not much difference with cats who are not whole. You can comfortably choose whichever you prefer.
Welcome to the forum. Could we see pictures of your girl? Have fun choosing your new kitty.
