Hi Everyone!
I'm so glad to find this forum. I'm in the process of adopting my new little girl, she is two years old and a rescue. Her mom took a job that required her to be away for days at a time. Unfortunately, Snowshoe's don't do well with isolation, poor baby. So she's coming to me! Yay.
I do have a question. My kitty (still trying to decide what name suits her best) does enjoy doing her 'Ragdoll flop' when I pick her up. What is the best way to hold a Ragdoll? I want to make sure I'm supporting her properly.
Hello and welcome! I'm a little confused - are you getting a ragdoll/snowshoe cross or two cats? lol sorry

I don't know if there's a "right" way to hold a ragdoll, but because of their size its easier to hold them under the armpits and support their backside/feet, a lot like a baby really! They are fine being cradled too. Do we get to see pics? hehe
Support the back legs and body. Be very careful about putting pressure into the "arm pits." There are nerves that run through there that can be damaged and cause paralysis. Focus on supporting the body by holding the body and not putting pressure into the joint itself.
Here is an example of supporting by chest and back legs. Just keep in mind there is more weight in bigger cats and they need more careful support not to put pressure on the legs, joints, etc.

Congrats on the new kitty - and welcome to the forum. I look forward to pics!
Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you will have a lot of fun with your new kitty, I hope she gets a new name soon.
Welcome!! I look forward to knowing you and your kitty. I hope we can see pictures soon.
I'm eager to see pics of your new kitty. I'm not sure how a Raggie/Snowshoe kitty looks, but I'm guessing she'll be adorable!
Welcome to the forum..Pictures please.
Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I'm afraid the quality isn't great, as I have to use my cameraphone.
Here she is! She's with me a for only a few days right now, as my roommate has serious allergies. I'm moving pretty soon but her foster mom is out of town for a few days and I get to have her with me!
She's still unnamed. She was named Bella by her previous owner, but now has a subtle freak out whenever I use it. I think she associates it with being left alone too much.
She's sweet, and shy and at 13 pounds, adorably fat.
She looks so sweet! What a lucky kitty to have a nice new mommy

Its a shame about your roommate being allergic, hopefully you and kitty can be together forever soon.
