I was browsing the classifieds of my local newspaper and came across this ragdoll kitty ad.

$300 for a ragdoll kitten with papers? How does that work? I kind of want to call and see what the catch is (no, I'm not looking to buy!!!) I don't get how people can offer them at more than half the price of what other breeders offer.. Hmmm
"$350 and up." Makes you wonder the difference between any kitten that is $350, assuming one is available, and any that are "up." Don't forget an important element of getting a Ragdoll - get one from a reputable breeder. Advertising kittens for $350 is exactly what you recognized - a big red flag.
Oh no, I'm not looking!! I just couldn't believe it when I saw that ad. I am already researching reputable breeders for when I do decide to get a third (if I can ever convince the boyfriend

). The breeder I got Dexter from has retired from breeding while she raises her grandchild. It's funny because when I first saw the ad they were listed at $300, they had to have just recently "upped" the kittens price.... Crazy..
Retired breeders some time go for $350 (that's what Samantha was). Maybe she has retired breeders that start that price? Anyway, as you've already said -- BIG RED FLAG there.
I cant see any of the pictures
But i also noticed that it doesnt say they come desexed?
Although, I'm pretty sure desexing wouldnt make up the rest of the $400 - 450

You're right Meghan, I didn't think of that. But still, most Ragdoll kittens around here are AT LEAST $600. Weird.
So call already and tell us what the other red flags are after talking to them!!
I tried, no answer. And since this was just for "research" (lol) I didn't leave a message. The girl on the voicemail sounded like a teenager... :/
LOL! Well at least you tried!
