Sky and Nova have now been with us since 3 days and we're totally in love! I am actually typing this message for the 2nd time since Nova tried to 'help' me with it, hehe. The first night we didn't get much sleep since they were very hyper and meowing and playing with each other. When I woke up in the middle of the night and didn't see or hear them I went looking and found them sleeping on the top step of the stairway. A couple of hours later we were woken up by Sky grunting very loudly and turning to my boyfriend for attention. After that she was fine again. Like she was seeking affection and needed to be sure we were still around. So sweet!! We noticed immediately that Sky is the most adventerous one and trying everything first. Nova is following. However, when Nova is somewhere and Sky is not coming she's calling her with a meow that sounds like a guinea pig. Since the second night they are sleeping with us on the bed and once a night Sky will turn to my boyfriend grunting again. I'm very happy that although they are together they definitely need and seek our company.

During the day they sleep a lot and in the evening and early morning they chase each other like crazy and are playing with open doors. Will post a video of that later on.

Can anyone please tell me how we can get them to recognize their names?
Some cats learn to regocnise their name fairly quickly, some take months , and some never learn. There really is no hard and fast rule. It sounds like Sky and Nova are settling really well and you'll soon get used to the fact that cats are predominantly nocturnal Smile
Call them by their names across the room, if they come, give them a treat. They'll soon associate their name with nice treats, and come to you when you call.
Ah Sky and Nova seem so sweet, I can't wait to see pics. As for there names I do think Snowdrop recognizes her name, that thanks to Jane her breeder she named her and we have kept the name so this obviously helped. Mind you I think she will get confused living here and I can never get anyones name right first time, lol!
I think repetition is obviously the key when giving them individual attention.
They learn names by your use. So, if that is the goal, use the "call" name as often as you can, particularly when you are holding them and you are focused on each other; and do not use variants for this period. A good technique is to use treats, say the name to get attention and then give the treat. If they are together, then just try to keep the focus between you and the cat whose name you use at that moment.
