6 month old kitten- how many times a day should he poop? Is once too infrequent? Im asking because he is slim (im guessing small appetite, im trying to entice him to eat more) and only poops about once a day.
I haven't that much experience yet but will share any way. Its' good when you have 2 to compare. Coco can poop up 3 times a day, but she is not a grazer and is feed 3 times a day. However Snowdrop so far poops once a day in the morning and she is a grazer at the moment, but I guess this could all change. Coco hasn't got a huge appetite and I prefer to feed her this way, she also has wet and dry food mixed together, which I don't like to leave down for long and she won't eat dry on its own unless she has to (if I'm not there). I hope this helps in some way, I think that they are all different like us humans.Smile
Once per day is normal. Mine never did more than once per day unless he had diarrhea.
Mine vary depending on size but generally it's only once or twice a day. If your kitten is slim and only has a small appetite then he won't produce much waste product either so once a day seems ok to me.
Solo goes anywhere from 1 - 3 times a day. It depends on how much is eaten during meals and how far your pet goes between meals. If your pet were on a regular schedule and fed a controlled amount, it is likely that the poop will be 1 time per day and you could predict what time of day the poop will happen! When I was a dog trainer I emphasized for puppies that putting them on a feeding schedule helped with potty training because you could really truly predict when they need to poop. Free fed pets that graze may put themselves on a regular schedule and controlled amount which may produce the same results...one poo a day. Solo has pig days and skinny days, so he really varies and I can never tell when he needs to go either, for him it is always random!
