My 2 year old male, Buddy, has always been a bit jumpy. Things startle him easily. Lately, he is regurgitating a lot ~ many hairballs even though groomed. Just a few minutes ago,he was sitting on the end of the couch (seemingly watching t.v.) when he projectile vomited undigested food. Needless to say, it scared both of us! My question is, could he just have a nervous stomach? My vet would always say before you bring him in, if he eats, poops, drinks water and plays, wait. His nose is cold and wet, so I don't really think he's sick. I know this sounds crazy, but could it just be nerves? Thanks everyone.
Vomiting hairballs is normal - and is what you want to happen with ingested fur.
When he projectile vomited, was it unchewed food. If so, that indicates eating too fast. Sometimes putting a clean golf ball in the bowl will slow the eating and stop that.
When cats ingest something undigestible, they will vomit it. That is good. Sometimes they just get stimulated to do it for some reason and it is not a medical problem.
Sometimes a food or ingredient will cause this. If it is a continuing problem, then consider trying other foods or avoiding some ingredients in the current food and see if that matters. However, keep in mind that each food change risks a period of GI upset just based on the adjustment to the new food.
Having cats mean some of this kind of event.
I think my Janessa has a nervous stomach.
After a show she will have loose stools.
Also, after I tried mating her with Maxwell the same thing happens.
I decided it is better not to stress her out

Thank you both for answering my question. I'm pretty sure its just his nervousness. After he got sick this a.m., he was playing with my other Raggie and was acting fine. He did eat his breakfast pretty quickly. This is what I love about this forum. Everyone helps everyone else out ~~ so, thank you.
