Yes. I can withdraw - and have from forums excessively and inappropriately moderated. I do not ask that my personal views be imposed - and I expect yours not to be either. (Some people are alienated in the process of trying to educate them. Unfortunate, but a fact of life. Nobody gets their eyes toothpicked open and are required to read.)
No, they're not required to read, but when they are the ones that ask the question in the first place it seems a silly argument that they aren't supposed to (or are required to) read the answers because they're offensive. A person coming to the forum to ask questions and learn about the breed shouldn't be automatically subjected to rudeness because of their ignorance. They come here looking for assistance and guidance. I think Curt and yourself know more about the breed than anyone else on the forum. As such, you both should be the "go to" people for those who need advice and I think that carries a responsibility. Everyone on this forum should be excited about your responses because of how educated you both are, and instead we're left cringing because of the hostility that comes across.
Of course you're not required to change, and I can only speak for myself of course, but I for one would rather have the "forum experts" be someone I can be inspired by and proud of rather than someone I have to make excuses for their behavior.
Certainly do not feel responsible for me.
In this case, the OP seems the one who had no problem - and even posted agreement with Curt. Do you think that was just the Stockholm syndrome?
Actually, someone who posts an intention to breed a rescue cat comes about as close to stepping on a land mine as someone posting an intention to declaw. Some posts are going to attract responses that may not be comfortable depending on how the OP reacts to them.
I certainly don't agree with anyone attempting to breed a Ragdoll who isn't registered and obtained through the proper channels with a lot of research involved. I just don't understand why that message can't be delivered in a decent manner. I just want users to come here and have a positive experience and receive the best information available. No one questions your intent, just the delivery. The new member in question posted agreement with Curt about using responsible breeders, but not about anything else he said. Again, I don't think there's anything wrong with the information you provide, just the delivery...and while I'm not expecting you to be friendly or all of a sudden post lots of smileys in the messages, I just think a shred of decency is not uncalled for.
Quote for me a post of mine you found problematic.
