This is Minky, our family cat that lives at my parents. He came to us over 10 years ago as a stray boy. He must've been a kitten at the time because he was so skinny and long. Now he is just MASSIVE and eats like a labrador!

Although, all my cats are INDOOR ONLY, Minky has always been an indoor/outdoor boy. My parents are the kind of people that think cats need to be outside with grass, etc. I dont support it anymore, but I'm not going to push for them to keep this boy inside.

The street my parents live on is a quiet one, but Mink loves to go around and prove how macho he is. He is constantly fighting at night time and has started loosing quite a bit lately.

The poor fella ended up with a MASSIVE absyss on his shoulder and had to have an operation on the weekend. It cost my parents $850 and I have finally convinced them to at least keep him inside at night times. He's got a drain in his wound and a cone on his head, and will be staying inside for a couple of days. Not a happy boy.

Oh My! Sad This does bring back memories. I had an outdoor cat when I was a teen and he had a couple abcesses in his lifetime. The first time it scared the bejeezus out of me because it looked like he was covered in blood. He had to be shaved down and was draining all over the place! I wrapped him in a bandage and I can remember him coming home trailing this long bandage with a stick on the end. I could have choked him! But I was 14 and thought I was helping him out[/i]. Jasper is an indoor kitty. I don't want to go through all that again!
Poor baby, I do hope that everything turns out ok for him. Thankfully your parents did get him to the vet.
Poor Minky. I hope he is okay Meg Sad

Heres to a fast recovery and hopefully a new indoor life (or at least indoor with enclosure) for the boy..
Poor boy..ouchy ouchy!!!!
Glad your parents got him to the vet Meghan.
Poor Minky, I hope he feels better soon and is happy to be kept inside at night. I'm sure the $850 will be an incentive to your parents to keep him in!!
That's really sad for him. I'm wondering if it might not save future expensive surgery if they invest in neutering? Altered boys tend to be less combative, so I'm just making an assumption that he's still whole. Do you supposed you might talk your parents into that little extra investment?

Oh poor baby, but I'm sure glad your parents took care of him. I used to have indoor/outdoor cats until I moved here. We have Coyotes so of course being outside is out of the question.
Oh my goodness! Poor Minky! I would definitely be keeping the lad inside from now on if I were them!
Oh no! I hope Minky heals quickly and stays inside from now on.
