Hello Everyone! I thought I would put this question in the health area, because it does pertain to my kitten's comfort. She is developing matts in her armpits & belly & britches. I have been combing & cutting them out a few at a time every time she jumps up on my lap. I have nearly all of them cleared out. I want to have her belly & armpits & britches shaved by a groomer. Then I will continue the trimming as needed, maybe monthly. I have not had any luck in finding a groomer locally who will do cats! I have called several, & they said my best bet would be to take her to my vet & let them sedate her & do it. I thought groomers did cats as well as dogs, but I guess I was wrong. This seems really weird!
Keep looking because there are groomers who groom cats.

If you have the mats out, there is no reason to shave those areas as well. It will not help in avoiding new mats. The qualities of the new coat will be the same as the "old" one.
it was so hard for me to find a groomer that did cats too. I finally found one that was a puppy palour, but they dealt with cats if they werent too difficult. It was a non-sedation one. Maybe you could contact some cat breeders, or even cat boarding places to see if they know anyone.
